Dali Doritos is a popular American brand, and is also popular in Japan. Another popular brand in Japan from the US is Cheetos. Cheetos and Doritos are popular among us Americans. I love Cheetos, especially.

Dali When an American first comes to Japan, he may go to supermarkets or convenience stores and see Cheetos, saying, “Oh, Cheetos! Japanese Cheetos! Wonderful!” And he buys the Cheetos, takes it home, and opens it. Japanese Cheetos are the same color as the American. He puts it in his mouth, masticates, and feels the same crunchiness that he loves. But suddenly, he perceives the taste and vomits!! He shouts, “This is terrible! It’s too sweet! Cheetos is not a dessert food! It’s a snack food we should have with beer. It should be a salty snack! Why is it so sweet? This Japanese Cheetos is not like the American’s!”
ダリちゃん アメリカ人が初めて日本に来ると、スーパーやコンビニに行ってチートスを見て「ワー、チートスだ！ 日本のチートス！ 素晴らしい！」と言う。で、チートスを買って、家に持って帰って、開ける。日本のチートスはアメリカのと同じ色。口に入れて、かんで、大好きなパリパリ感を感じる。でも突然、味を感じて吐き出す。「ひどーい！ 甘すぎ！ チートスはデザートじゃない！ ビールのお伴となるスナックなんだ。塩見のあるスナックであるべきだ！ なんでこんなに甘いんだ？ こんなのアメリカのチートスと全然違う！」と叫ぶ。

Dali Shut up! When I buy a Japanese potato chip, I always look at the ingredient label. I buy the potato chips whose ingredients consist solely of potato, oil, and salt.

Dali Do you? Apparently, so do most Japanese. Most Japanese potato chips have huge amounts of chemicals and additive flavorings. The bottom line is that they taste too sweet. Horribly sweet!
