Me I tried to slap them away with my hand, but nothing changed. Then, I thought maybe I had some dirt in my eye, and I tried to blink it away, but that didn't help. Me She said, “You seem to be suffering from posterior vitreous detachment. Your vitreous humor liquified and contracted, leaving numerous clumps of collagen fiber debris behind, which can cast tiny shadows on your retina, called floaters.” I asked, “Are there any treatments for this?” She replied, “Unfortunately, there are none.” I said, “What should I do?” She replied, “You fool! Look at the light filter above. You can see countless dead bugs and other detritus, right? Nevertheless, this room is bright. Just as you can't replace the light filter, you can't replace your eyeballs, correct? Just give up and get used to it.” I said, “Yes, doctor. I understand.” <sob>

Eye floaters are spots in your vision. They may look like squiggly lines, threadlike strands, black or gray specks, strings, or cobwebs. If you notice a sudden increase in eye floaters, contact an eye specialist immediately. These can be an eye emergency that requires prompt attention. These painless symptoms could be caused by uveitis (inflammation in the back of the eye), bleeding, retinal tears, or retinal detachment. The latter two, if untreated, may lead to permanent vision loss. That being said, in most cases, eye floaters are caused by vitreous (the jelly-like substance inside the eye) changes due to aging and are nothing to worry about.
