2012-10-29 | with CIEE

International students from US university and their host     family held Cultual Exchange event at Jinbo -cho Kuminkan on weekend afternoon in October.

Special feature of this event is to experience making Nuno-zouri(cloth sandal) together.   Nuno-Zouri is lately remarkable as one of utilization of recyclable resources.

Kamata-san, our member, she is an expert of making Nuno-Zori who leaded students and their host families to make Nono-Zouri.

Lovely nuno-zouri can be made by hands using old t-shirt, yukata, bed sheets etc. in cotton, jersey, nylon, and other else of cloth.

Moreover it can make things with more than one function; you can get  in good health from sole and you can wipe floor of your room !!

Besides our staff prepared the interesting corners in the venue to let students  experience the Japanese traditional cultures; such as Yukata-dressing, Paper Folding,

 l

traditional children's game  as "Otedama"(small bean bags juggling) "Ohajiki"(Japanese marbles) "Ayatori"(Cat's cradle) "Koma"(tops), and "Kendama" etc

One of the host family presented the students an expert performance of playing  “ Kendama ”.

On the stage Kobayashi-san(our member) let them listen the reading of picture book of  “Urashima Taro” that is very familiar with us as folk tale.

Students & host family looked very excited and satisfied  to complete their own Nuno-Zouri.

Very joyful event to deepen interchange between students & host family had almost come to an end around 4:30pm.

Wishing all the participants for a Good memory of one day in Autumn afternoon.
