Blessed with the beautiful weather, CIEE students enjoyed walking around the District of

2014-04-21 | with CIEE

On the previous semester’s tour, there still be recognized the part of the remains of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka under being demolished in the last fall,  though now all the building has been demolished and disappeared from our sight.

I wondered how fast the new development has been carrying on in Tokyo !  Actually for Tokyo Olympic in the 2020, the citizens noticed Tokyo has started to change its face again here and there and  the legacy of 1964 Tokyo Olympic will be gone away.

What particular mentioned on this tour is the best timing of beautiful “Kanzan” late blooming cherry blossom  welcoming us after finishing the Somei-Yoshino.

We periodically guided the CIEE students twice a year, on the spring and fall semester.

Though this is the only second times that students could see the cherry blossoms on the tour!

The CIEE students seemed to be enthusiasm to know our country and actually they

Already have known about Japan pretty much.

Tracing the core land of the present Japan overlaps with that of the Edo era.

Compared the Ukiyoe (wood block print) drawing of the landscape of these district with the present view we can anticipate the past time in the Edo era.

This tour is really a good route to know what happened when the time changed from the Edo era to the Meiji restoration in our country.

On the way, we dropped in the Parliamentary Museum, where many documents and materials exhibited shown us the steps how our country established the constitutional government in the early Meiji era.

The students learned about the history of our country as well, enjoying the beautiful season of Japan.

I really hope today would be one of the best memory of the new semesters’ CIEE student life in Japan!!
