『日本書紀』皇極天皇 24
中大兄、見子麻呂等畏入鹿威便旋不進、曰、咄嗟。卽共子麻呂等出其不意、以劒傷割入鹿頭肩。入鹿驚起。子麻呂、運手揮劒、傷其一脚。入鹿、轉就御座、叩頭曰、當居嗣位天之子也、臣不知罪、乞垂審察。天皇大驚、詔中大兄曰、不知所作、有何事耶。中大兄、伏地奏曰、鞍作盡滅天宗將傾日位、豈以天孫代鞍作乎。蘇我臣入鹿、更名鞍作。天皇卽起、入於殿中。佐伯連子麻呂・稚犬養連網田、斬入鹿臣。
是日、雨下潦水溢庭、以席障子覆鞍作屍。古人大兄、見走入私宮、謂於人曰、韓人殺鞍作臣、謂因韓政而誅。吾心痛矣。卽入臥內、杜門不出。中大兄、卽入法興寺爲城而備。凡諸皇子諸王諸卿大夫臣連伴造國造、悉皆隨侍。使人賜鞍作臣屍於大臣蝦夷。
≪英訳≫
Naka no Ōe (中大兄) saw that Komaro (子麻呂) and the others were intimidated by Iruka’s (入鹿) imposing presence and hesitated to act. He then shouted, “Now!” and, together with Komaro and his men, suddenly sprang forward, taking Iruka by surprise. With his sword, he struck Iruka’s head and shoulder. Iruka, startled, attempted to rise, but Komaro swung his sword again and wounded Iruka’s leg. Iruka fell to the floor before the imperial seat, prostrated himself, and said, “It is the Emperor who rightfully holds the throne. What crime have I committed? I ask you to state your reasons.”
The Emperor (天皇), greatly astonished, turned to Naka no Ōe and said, “What is happening here?”
Naka no Ōe bowed deeply and reported, “Kuratsukuri (鞍作, another name for Iruka) seeks to annihilate all the imperial princes and overthrow the throne. Should the Emperor’s place be taken by Kuratsukuri?”
Hearing this, the Emperor stood up and withdrew into the inner palace.
Saeki no Muraji Komaro (佐伯連子麻呂) and Waka Inukai no Muraji Amita (稚犬養連網田) then struck down Iruka no Omi (入鹿臣) and killed him.
That day, heavy rain fell, and the courtyard was flooded with water. Kuratsukuri’s corpse was covered with a straw mat (蓆蔀, mushiro-shitomi).
Furuhito no Ōe (古人大兄) rushed into his private residence and said to those around him, “The Karahito (韓人, people from the Korean kingdoms) have killed Kuratokuri no Omi. They claim it was done because of Korean political affairs. My heart is in anguish.” He then entered his sleeping quarters, shut the door, and refused to come out.
Naka no Ōe entered Hōkō-ji (法興寺) and fortified it as a stronghold. All the imperial princes (皇子), royal family members (諸王), high-ranking court officials (諸卿大夫), and noble clans such as the Omi (臣), Muraji (連), Tomonomiyatsuko (伴造), and Kuninomiyatsuko (国造) followed him and stood by his side.
An envoy was then sent to deliver Kuratsukuri’s corpse to Ōomi (大臣) Emishi (蝦夷).
≪この英文の和訳≫
中大兄(なかのおおえ)は、子麻呂(こまろ)らが入鹿(いるか)の威勢に恐れをなし、ためらっているのを見て、「今だ！」と叫び、子麻呂らとともに突然躍り出た。入鹿の不意を突き、剣をもって頭から肩にかけて斬りつけた。入鹿は驚いて立ち上がろうとしたが、子麻呂がさらに剣を振るい、片脚に斬りつけた。入鹿は御座の前に転げ落ち、地に頭を伏せて言った。
「日嗣(ひつぎ)の位に就かれるのは天子(てんし)である。私に何の罪があるというのか。その理由を明らかにしてほしい」
天皇(すめらみこと)は大いに驚かれ、中大兄に向かってお尋ねになった。
「これはいったい何事であるのか」
中大兄は地に伏し、奏上した。
「鞍作(くらつくり)―すなわち入鹿は、皇子たちをことごとく滅ぼし、帝位を傾けようとしております。鞍作をもって天子に代えようというのでしょうか」
天皇は立ち上がられ、殿舎の奥へと入られた。
その後、佐伯連子麻呂(さえきのむらじこまろ)と稚犬養連網田(わかいぬかいのあみた)が入鹿臣(いるかのおみ)を斬り伏せた。
この日、激しい雨が降り、庭には水があふれた。鞍作の屍(しかばね)は蓆蔀(むしろしとみ)で覆われた。
古人大兄(ふるひとのおおえ)は私邸に駆け戻り、人々にこう言った。
「韓人(からひと)が鞍作臣を殺したという。彼らは、これは韓(から)の政(まつりごと)に関することであると主張している。なんと痛ましいことか」。そして寝所に入り、門を閉ざして出ようとしなかった。
中大兄は法興寺(ほうこうじ)に入り、これを砦として守りを固めた。諸皇子、諸王、諸卿大夫(まえつきみ)をはじめ、臣(おみ)、連(むらじ)、伴造(とものみやつこ)、国造(くにのみやつこ)らがみな従った。
そして使者を遣わし、鞍作の屍を大臣(おおおみ)蝦夷(えみし)に引き渡した。
