『古事記』垂仁天皇 9 ≪改訂版≫
故、率遊其御子之狀者、在於尾張之相津、二俣榲作二俣小舟而持上來、以浮倭之市師池・輕池、率遊其御子。然、是御子、八拳鬚至于心前、眞事登波受。此三字以音。故、今聞高往鵠之音、始爲阿藝登比。自阿下四字以音。爾遣山邊之大鶙此者人名令取其鳥。故是人追尋其鵠、自木國到針間國、亦追越稻羽國、卽到旦波國、多遲麻國、追廻東方、到近淡海國、乃越三野國、自尾張國傳以追科野國、遂追到高志國而、於和那美之水門張網、取其鳥而持上獻。故、號其水門謂和那美之水門也。亦見其鳥者、於思物言而、如思爾勿言事。
≪英訳≫
Thus, they took the Emperor’s child to play at a place called Aitsu in Owari, where they made a small boat from the cedar of Futamata and carried it to float on the ponds of the Ichishi and Karu in Yamato. The child had long whiskers extending to the front of the heart and could not speak clearly. However, upon hearing the call of a crane in the sky, he started calling “Agi.” The emperor then sent a man named Yamabe no Ohotaka to capture the crane. The man pursued the crane from the Kii Province to the Harima Province, then crossed into the Inaba and Tajima Provinces. He continued eastward, reaching the Omi Province, and then crossed into the Mino Province, pursued it from Owari to the Shinano Province, and finally went to the Koshi Province, where he set a trap at Minato(Water Gate) in Wanami and caught the crane, which he brought back to offer. Hence, the water gate was called the Wanami no Minato (water gate). The Prince tried to speak to the crane, but he did not speak as he intended.
≪この英文の和訳≫
このように、天皇の御子を連れて尾張の相津にある二俣の杉を使って小さな舟を作り、それを大和の市師(いちし)の池と輕(かる)の池に浮かべて楽しまれました。この御子は、長い鬢(びん)が胸の前まで届くほどの年齢になっても、まだ物事をはっきりと話せる状態ではありませんでした。しかし、空高く鶴の鳴き声をお聞きになられると、御子は「あぎ」とおっしゃいました。そこで、山辺のオホタカという方をお遣いになって、その鶴を捕らえさせようとされました。この方は鶴を追い求めて紀の国から播磨の国に至り、因幡の国を越えて行き、丹波と但馬の国を経て、東の方に向かって近江の国に至り、さらに美濃の国を越えて尾張の国から信濃の国に至りました。最終的に越(こし)の国に行き、和那美(わなみ)の水門(みなと)で罠(わな)を張ってその鶴を捕らえ、持ち帰って献上しました。そのため、この水門を和那美(わなみ)の水門(みなと)と呼ぶのです。そして、御子はその鶴をご覧になって何か話しかけようとされましたが、思い通りに話されることはなかったのです。
