To an unexpected direction…
Apart from the activities at my designated work, the campaign “Let’s not throw away trash in the street!” was started with other JOCV and students. However, my office is coming to be on our sailing now!!! In fact, we have just finished printing out posters that advocate “Let’s protect the environment!” with the JICA’s funds for JOCV’s activities. So, I was looking at the infrastructure that my workplace has nationwide to give out the poster each city hall and consulted with them; as a result, I received a willing agreement! My counterpart and co-worker made efforts to persuade the concerning people in the office and helped me with making a letter to the city hall. Last month, when it was forth month since the campaign started in September, I made a newsletter called “Kawara-ban (Japanese old word, meaning news flash).” I did it so that my co-workers would understand better my outside activities and I would be able to get a permission of leave even in the weekday easier, which was actually very good, I think! There are so many people in my office as well who actually throw away trash in the street, so I want as many people as possible to get involved in this process of advocacy activities, which would be my great pleasure. I believe that to care about environment is to care about others. Even if the result cannot promptly or ever be observed, the unity itself would link to solutions to various problems.
