The Globe and Mail: Tsunamis kill thousands

What a terrible thing, Tsunami attacked the coastlines in Southeastern Asia.

According to the new paper, the epicentre was kilometers off shore of Indonesia, it was 9.0 magnitude earthquake taken place under the ocean.
I can't believe more than 13,000 people were killed.

I am living in Toronto, Canada now, but originally from Nagano. It is said that massive earthquake will coming to Nagano someday in the near future. I was frightened that it is not just a disaster happened in faraway countries. It could have been my friends or relatives who were killed, if it happened to Nagano...

By the way,
it is a kind of cliche, every news announcer tells us how many Japanese were killed or injured, following what and how it happened.
It looks like the same in Canada. In the newspaper, what they focused on was either the Canadian were killed. I think the way of broadcasting is in common world wide.
They are professional. Professional work for broadcasting news means accuracy and quality of information that viewers want to know. I know they are following the theory. It usually sounds like cold-hearted, though.
10 Japanese people killed? So what?! Don't you care if there was no Japanese there? ..... See, what I mean?

I am sorry about the tragedy...
