Oh, No Tennis

I heard that the weather this weekend is going to be bad, lots of rain. This means I will not be able to play tennis. How can I have a weekend without tennis But the truth is that my back still hurts and getting some rest is good for me. Still, I want to play tennis very BADLY

ということは、テニスができない！
テニスができない週末なんてどうしよう　
しかし、痛めた腰がまだ完全に治っていないので
休養が必要です

Last Saturday we visited Yasukuni Shrine and the Emperor Palace. We saw many young ladies jogging around the palace, wearing expensive looking clothes with matching colors. It looked more like a fashion show than anything else. Whenever I go for a walk, I just grab anything that I can find and head out. But I am married and not young anymore. No need to worry about fashion much

先週の土曜日に、靖国神社と皇居に行ってきました。
若い女性がカラーマッチングした高そうなウェアーを着て、
皇居の周りをジョギングしていました
まるで、ファッションショーのようでした
私は、散歩に行くときには、あるものを来て、出かけます
でも、私はもう結婚しているし、で若くもないので
ファッションに気を使う必要もないですが

Covered People

Sometimes when I go out, I do not see "people" but individuals wearing masks, hats, and other pieces of clothing, covering themselves from top to bottom. Japanese usually do not make eye contact with strangers and as a results, communication can be difficult with them. But with masks, hats, visors, long gloves and more, sometimes I do not feel much human touch and warmth when I go outside.


出かけると、「人」ではなく
マスクをし、帽子をかぶり、頭から足の先までをカバーした
人間を見ます
日本人は、あまり他人と視線を合わせないので、
コミュニケーションが難しいです。
しかし、マスクをかけ、帽子とサンバイザーをかぶり、
長い手袋などで体を覆っていると、温かな人間味を感じられません

First-year students

Since the school started early May, it has been really nice seeing new students in my classes. Everyone looks fresh and ready to study. They all look lovely and I see them as my own children. First-year students usually listen to what I say and do as they are instructed. But when they become second or third year students, their level of cooperation decreases. First-year students are like children who always say yes to whatever you ask them. But second-year kids can be like difficult teenagers, at time; lovely, but hard to deal with.

5月に授業が始まってから、教室で新入生に会うのが楽しみです
新鮮で勉強への意欲が感じられます。
皆、かわいくて、自分の子供のようです
大抵1年生は、私の指示に従います。
しかし、2年生、3年生となるとそうはいかなくなります。
1年生は、子供のように、何でも言うことを聞いてくれますが、
2年生になると10代の反抗期の子供のように、かわいいですが
扱いにくくなります

Boxed Lunch

Yesterday we went to a park and enjoyed the nature. A warm day, beautiful flowers, and with bird singing,everything looked perfect. For lunch we had boxed lunch from a convenience store we had bought on the way to the park. I noticed that many families had purchased boxed lunches too, instead of the homemade ones. I remember when we lived with grandma, she always made our lunches for a picnic, which included rice balls, chicken, eggs, and pickles. I always looked forward to eating grandma's specialty. Are those days gone and convenience stores have changed our tradition?


昨日、公園に行って、自然を満喫しました
暖かな日に、美しい花、鳥のさえずり、全てパーフェクトでした。
お昼は、途中のコンビでお弁当を買いました。
たくさんの家族が、手作り弁当ではなく、
コンビニのお弁当を持って来ていました。
祖母と一緒に住んでいた頃は、
祖母がいつもピクニック用のお弁当を作ってくれました
…おにぎり、から揚げ、卵焼き、漬物！
私は、いつも祖母の手作り弁当を楽しみにしていました。
あの頃は過ぎ去り…コンビニが私達の伝統を変えてしまったのかな
