＜前科＞
プエルタは２００３年、ドーピング違反で９カ月の出場停止処分を受けた。
この時陽性反応を示したのは、プエルタが大会前に服用した喘息薬に
含まれていたクレンブテロール（筋肉増強剤）。
（プエルタはこの喘息薬の服用を大会に届け出なかった - 過失である）
＜２度目の過失＞
そのプエルタが、今年６月５日のＲＧ決勝後の検査で再び禁止薬物
（今回は興奮剤のエチレフリン）に陽性反応を示した。
ただし、検出量はプレーに影響ないほど微量。
また、それは妻の服用する薬剤をに含まれていたもので、
不注意でその薬剤を飲んでしまったため、だとか。
つまり故意にではなく過失。
この点については、ＩＴＦもプエルタの主張を受け入れているらしいが、
ＭＴＦなどでも指摘されているように、不自然と言えなくもない状況です：
プエルタがロッカールームに消えたあと、妻は薬をコップの水に入れ、
それをすぐに飲まずテーブルにおいておき、思いがけず戻ってきた
プエルタがそれを飲んでしまった、のだそうです。
＜事実上の永久追放＞
とにかく、今回の処分は【８年間の資格停止】という厳しいもので、
６月５日にさかのぼって適用されます。その結果：
ＲＧ準優勝取り消し
ＲＧでのランキングポイントおよび賞金５２万ドル（約６１６０万円）を没収
ＲＧ以降のランキングポイントと賞金約３３万ドル（約３８６０万ドル）も没収

以前に出場停止処分を受けた選手が何人かいますが、最長でも２年でした。
それがどうしていきなり８年になるのか・・・。もちろん、たとえ故意でなかった

薬を与えたのかもしれない・・としながらも、そういったことは
ルゼツキーに陽性反応が出る２ヶ月前に終わっていたと付け加えた。
え？ つまり、２ヶ月も前に服用した薬のせいで陽性反応があったってこと？
そういう主張が通っちゃったんだ。
いや、きっとそういう薬が存在するんでしょうね。そしてそんな薬を
知らずに選手に投与してしまうようなトレーナーも。

今後は、ドーピング検査が以前にも増して厳格になり、また陽性反応が

ANTI-drugs crusader Dick Pound predicts more tennis players will test postive to illegal substances.
World Anti-Doping Agency chief Pound says more players will be caught following the decision to have all testing carried out by the International Tennis Federation. The men's drug testing program was previously run by the ATP, which administers all tournaments apart from the grand slams and Davis Cup. Pound yesterday gave the ATP a backhander over its handling of a string of ultimately unpunished positive nandrolone tests, notably those returned by Greg Rusedski and Bohdan Ulihrach.
