2C loves creepy crawly bugs!

2018-06-21 17:00:02 | 2018

In 2C life skills, we've been doing a lot of scientific observations of plants and of bugs. As part of our unit, we decided to make our very own posters. We chose an insect and did our best, just like we always do.

We started by doing research on our bugs in the computer room. Then, we wrote answers to our bug questions. Finally, after a lot of work, it was poster-making time! The students worked hard together to create beautiful and informative posters. They used labeling, a skill they learned in life skills. They also chose where to put their pictures and information so that these things would be easy to see.

Just look at how much effort these girls put into their posters! The writing, the colours, the labels... Everything was fantastic! The girls even learned about a new bug body part: mandibles.

But wait! Just making a poster is no fun. We also decided to present our information to each other. So first we practiced and practiced... Who should talk first? Who should say what? Should we point to our posters or stand straight? Should we read our posters or know the information in our heads? These questions were all addressed by the students in their groups.

Finally, it was the big moment: we were ready to show the rest of the class what we had learned (and made). Many were a little shy to talk in front of eveyone, but everyone did their best to show what they knew.

All in all, we learned a lot about our bugs. However, we also learned so much more: how to find information online, write informative paragraphs, make eye-catching posters, work together, and present information to other people. And we had fun doing it!

So please, if you have the time, come look at our posters to see just how much we really learned!
