A day in the life of a 4GC girl

2018-06-18 09:55:26 | 2018

The girls in 4GC really enjoy school. We try to fill the day with lots of activities for them to try, working together to build skills while also speaking English.

The day starts early with our morning 'Breakfast Club'! On this day we were thinking back to the music concert we saw fromm Bolivia and tried to make our own pan-pipes.

Sharing English at these times while helping others makes it totally 'normal' for the students to then speak English all day.

We study new sentences during English class, but using the language between lessons is when you really learn how to use it.

The school chimes shows that school has started, and the GC girls come together to read a great story together.

At the moment we are reading part of Roald Dahl's autobiography 'Boy'. It shows that lots of his ideas come from when he was the same age as the students are now!

The first class of the day in Social Studies, with this class being completed in Japanese.

The students still work in groups to share ideas, and think how to best communicate the things they learn to others.

They are designing a poster presentation to share.

Next is Maths class.

We are currently studying about Quadrilaterals and the students started by drawing many different quadrilaterals using dotted paper.

They then worked in their groups to try to sort the different quadrilaterals into groups.

Key words which they thought about were parallel and perpendicular.

Next class is Science.

We are studying about electricity, and thinking about the differences between series and parallel circuits.

The students had a challenge to make an electric car, and to then use different circuits to see how they could make their car go faster.

When Science class finishes it is time for lunch.

We can relax and enjoy talking about all the things we have done that morning.

After lunch we change class-room and go upstairs for Music class.

This lesson is in Japanese, but we can also think about the English words to the songs we are learning from 'The Sound of Music'.

Again we have lots of chances to plan how we will perform and then share out ideas with other people.

School is nearly over, but we need to keep our classroom clean so we can enjoy ourselves again tomorrow.

Our days are so busy at school, we really can't waste a single minute!
