Grade 6 Science

2018-07-04 14:54:50 | 2017

Look at all of those stomata! Grade 6 are learning about transpiration, the process of water being absorbed by the roots, going through the plant, and exiting through tiny holes on the underside of plant leaves.

We were able to get a microscopic view of what stomata look like! Check it out below:

Keeping the school beautiful

2018-05-19 09:05:17 | 2017

The Grade 4 students had their first ever Volunteer class this week.

From now we will have a lesson each month where we will try to complete work which helps others around school and in the community.

We started the lesson by talking about what it means to do volunteer work, and what sort of things we can do to be good members of the community.

We thought about what we could do in the school to try to help, and decided to go to the playground and try to tidy it up in preparation for Sports Day.

In our class discussion we had talked about how important it is to enjoy our work, and to have fun while we are trying to help others.

The students seemd to really enjoy pulling out the weeds from the grass area.

We only worked for 20 minutes but with so many people working so well we collected so many weeds!

The students helped each other to work, and helped the school to be ready for Sports Day next week.

We have lots more ideas about what we can do in our next Volunteer class.

Breakfast Club Dancing!

2018-05-14 13:32:19 | 2017

When GC students get to school they waste no time before starting to have fun and learn new things.

The girls in 4C have a 'Breakfast Club' in which they plan and do activities before the Morning meeting each day.

At the moment we are very busy getting ready for Sports Day and are spending time trying to get our dance perfect for the big day.

While some people might still be having their breakfast we are already having fun and waking up our minds and bodies ready for another great day at school.

We are using the song 'Wavin Flag' by K'Naan and have tried to make a dance using flags which fits with the Africa inspired beat.

Of course all of the students are speaking only English to each other all the time at Breakfast Club!

When the chime goes to start school we are already back in the classroom and ready to learn the next thing!

On this day that was Japanese.

Wide awake and full of energy the students are ready to learn all of the kanji and Japanese language rules. Maybe we can use them in a project later!

Having times to move around and use our bodies makes it much easier to sit and really concentrate hard at times when we need to think about what we are writing.

No time is wasted in GC, we have so many cool new things to learn!

Grade 3 Moral Works

2018-01-19 16:04:11 | 2017

Happy new year, everyone.

The last term has started.

We already passed two weeks and finished a lots of works.

These are grade 3 moral works.

We read the book called “STEVIE” by John Stephan.

As reading this book, we connected this story to our life and

thinking about another people’s feeling.
