Do your best Grade 5 & 6!!

2019-12-10 15:53:23 | 2019

On 7th November we had an English Speech Contest at Futaba.

There were representatives from Grade 5 up to Junior High School Grade 2.

Two students were picked from each class.

First, everybody practiced in English class.

^My friend is doing her speech, and everybody is looking at her!

Students in Grade 5 were excited to make props.

All our classmates tried their best.

Grade 5 Futaba Course did 'The Dinosaur Chant', and Grade 6 Futaba Course did 'Our School Crest'.

The students from the Gc Course read a speech which they made by themselves.

^Grade 6 doing their speech. At the back the Grade 6s are sitting beautifully!

We thought our speech contest was very enjoyable.

Grade 4 and 5 are practicing their performance for the Christmas concert in the music room at morning recess and lunch-time.

The Christmas concert is coming soon!

Students auditioned for the special instruments. About 40 people did the audition and just 7 people were chosen.

They are practicing almost every day.

^Here are girls playing instruments in the music room.

Even the people who are not playng special instruments are practicing with the music teacher.

Everyone is practicing hard, so please come to see us play!

^These girls are having fun practicing for the concert.

We interviewed a Grade 5 girl about her practice.

Q: How often do you go to the music room for practice?

A: I go every day, at lunchtime and in the morning.

Q: Is it fun practicing? Why?

A: Yes, because this year we are using the big instruments and last year I just used pianica.

Our new friends

2019-11-27 13:10:48 | 2019

During last week students from our sister school in Singapore visited our school.

We speak a different language to them, we have different hair-styles and different uniforms, but we have the same school crest!

It means that we are friends!

On the last day of their visit they performed a Japanese dance for us.

From watching it we noticed that they had practiced very hard.

Thank you for the great dance.

We think that learning a new culture is a very good thing to do.

By doing so you can learn interesting things.

I think the students from Singapore had a fun time learning about Japan.

Super Yummy Food!!

2019-11-26 10:22:49 | 2019

On Monday of last week the Grade 1 students cooked some sweet potatoes in the Home Economics room.

They cooked by themselves!

After cooking they ate the food in the Home Economics room.

They grew the sweet potatoes at school, and then cooked them.

They could eat a big sweet potato!

Q: How did you cook the sweet potatoes?

A: We cooked them in a pressuree cooker.

Q: How did you grow them?

A: We planted sweet potato leaves in July and gave them water. Sometimes we pulled out the weeds.

The Grade 1 students had fun and they loved eating the sweet potatoes. It was quite difficult to cook them, but they learned how to do it.

Practicing Christmas Songs

2019-11-26 09:40:13 | 2019

Every grade at our school are now doing hard work practicing Christmas songs for the Christmas concert in December.

For Grade 1 this will be their first Futaba Elementary School Christmas concert, and for Grade 6 it will be the last time.

It will be very beautiful and interesting in the end!

We are always very happy when we hear beautiful Christmas songs.
