Me I love moon-viewing, which is known as Tsukimi in Japanese. It was a full moon night yesterday, and I ate dumplings (Tsukimi Dango) and Tsukimi Udon.
私 僕は月を見ることが好き。日本語では月見という。昨夜は満月だった。月見団子と月見うどんを食べた。

Me It’s a bowl of udon noodles in hot broth with a raw egg yolk on top.

Dali A raw egg? You fool! You’ll contract Salmonella! Anyway, some nights have no moon. We call it a “new moon.” A new moon means no moon. But usually, we have some sort of moon: full moon, half moon, or crescent moon. There are many different moon phases, but the moon’s color is fairly consistent. What is the color of the moon? Can you say it in English?

Me Urine yellow?

Dali Hmmm. I’ve never seen a urine yellow moon, but I have seen one that is very mildly reddish or orange. This is called a blood moon. It’s not actually blood red but a very mild reddish color. I don’t know the reason for this, but there is supposed to be a scientific reason why the moon could be reddish.

Dali No! I’ve never seen such a thing! If the moon becomes blue, if ever we did have a blue moon, it must be extraordinarily rare, as the idiom “once in a blue moon” goes. “Once in a blue moon” means “very rarely.”
ダリちゃん 違う！ そんなもの見たことない！ もし月が青くなったら、もし万が一青い月というものがあったなら、究極にレアなことに違いない。once in a blue moonというイディオムがいうようにね。once in a blue moonとは「とてもレア」という意味。
