指輪を見つけた時の馳夫さんと大将を比べる

大将ばかりが有名になってしまった「そのシーン」ですが，原作ファンもつい忘れてしまいがちですが，実は馳夫さんも「その時」大変興味深い反応をしています。以下，その違いを表にしてみました。（すみません，文章を原書からとってきたので，読みにくいと思いますが，お許しください）青字は映画との違いについてです。

	馳夫さん	大将
場所	踊る子馬亭でフロド，サム，ピピンは他の客と談笑しながらビールを飲んでいた。メリーは外を見回っている。フロドは酒場の隅にいる馳夫さんを見つけるがあやしい雰囲気に怖がっている様子。 （映画ではメリーも一緒だが彼らは周りに全然馴染んでない）	イシリアンでファラミアの一行に捕まったフロドとサム。ヘンネス・アンヌーンでワイン付きの食事を取りながらお互いの身の上話をしている。ファラミアはフロドが素直にボロミアの友達ではないことを懸念して，彼の事やゴンドールという国についていろいろ説明して理解を得ようとしている。 （映画では一緒に食事を取ってないしもちろん身の上話もしてない）
直前の状況	フロドがうっかり指輪をはめて消えてしまったのを見つけて部屋までついてきた。 （映画ではフロドはピピンが調子にのって喋るのを止めようとして滑って転んではめただけだが，原作では自ら調子に乗って歌を歌ってテーブルから飛び降りて転んではめた） そこへ宿の主人がガンダルフからフロドに宛てられた手紙を持ってくる。 （映画にはない）	サムがうっかりボロミアが指輪を取ろうとしたと言ってしまう。 （映画では指輪の事を言うのはゴラム。原作ではこの時点でまだファラミアはゴラムに会ってない）
きっかけ	以下のサムのセリフ "How do we know you are the Strider that Gandalf speaks about? ..... You might have done in the real Strider and took his clothes. What have you to say to that?" （映画にはない）	以下のサムのセリフ "Don't you go taking advantage of my master because his servant's no better than a fool. .... Now's a chance to show your quality." （映画にはない）
決めゼリフ	If I had killed the real Strider, I could kill you. And I should have killed you already without so much talk. If I was after the Ring, I could have it - NOW! （映画にはない，けどこれはどえらくキケンなセリフだ（笑））	So, that is the answer to all the riddles! ...... （映画でもここでこう言っているが映画のその時点ではまだボロミアの行いを知らないはずなので全ての謎はまだ解けてないのでは‥？） And here in the wild I have you: two halflings, and a host of men at my call, and the Ring of Rings. A pretty stroke of fortune! A chance for Faramir, Captain of Gondor, to show his quality!
そのセリフを言った本人の直後の行動	He stood up, and seemed suddenly to grow taller. In his eyes gleamed a light, keen and commanding. Throwing back his cloak, he laid his hand on the hilt of a sword that had hung concealed by his side. （映画にこのシーンはないが後にボロミアが最初に指輪を取ろうとした時にちょうどこんな感じで彼は剣の柄に手をかけている）	He stood up, very tall and stern, his grey eyes glinting. （映画では剣を抜いているが原作ではそんな事はしていない。）
ホビッツの反応	They did not dare to move. Sam sat wide-mouthed staring at him dumbly. （映画にはない，サム，お口ポッカーンだったのか（爆））	Frodo and Sam sprang from their stools and set themselves side by side with their backs to the wall, fumbling for their sword-hilts. （逆にホビッツの方が剣を抜こうとしたこのリアクションは映画にはない）
その後	"But I am the real Strider, fortunately," he said, looking down at them with his face softened by a sudden smile. "I am Aragorn son of Arathorn; and if by life or death I can save you, I will." （映画では太字部のみを裂け谷で言っている）	But Faramir sat down again in his chair and began to laugh quietly, and then suddenly became grave again. "Alas for Boromir! ... How you have increased my sorrow. .... But ... Not if I found it on the highway would I take it. ...Sit at peace! And be comforted, Samwise. ..." （映画にはない） ちなみに‥‥"Well, Frodo, now at last we understand one another."はこの直後 （映画には上の身の上話がない為このセリフが浮いてしまう）
