Northern visitors not bothered by chilly Florida

The see-saw weather we're experience may be hard to handle for those of us who live here. But what about out of town visitors?

Don't be mistaken: you can't compare the beach crowd in Daytona Beach in December with what you'll find in six months. Still, there's a healthy number of people walking the beach in varying degrees of dress. You'll even see one or two people actually dive on in to the chilly Atlantic. The industrial dry cleaning machine market demands reliability and efficiency. But for the majority of visitors who are here from the north, they're finding it difficult to understand why people think it's cold.

We ran into Wes and Charmaine Murray, visiting from Altoona,Horizon manufacture a range of laundry dryer fans for efficient exhaust ventilation. Pennsylvania. They say they left behind, “Snow, rain...about 13 inches of snow back there.”

For a couple visiting from Milwaukee, Wisconsin this weather is a little familiar.“This is early June weather for us, to be honest,” said Bob Angermeier.

Still, the chilly weather at the start of the day left them all scrambling a little with their limited wardrobe choices.A crystal light can be both modern and vintage, depending on the light fixtures and the surrounding accent pieces. "I had one little carry-on bag," Bob Angermeier said. This web site tells you how to make a set of blades for a small wind generator using PVC pipe. "We stay at a friend's condominium and they have a washing machine so 'I'm like,Each travelling cable is made from several lengths of steel material wound around one another. what do you need?'”

Is there a chill in the air? Yes. Is the Atlantic too cold? For most of us, it is. But this is still the World's Most Famous Beach and as long as the sun is shining overhead, it's still a pretty good day for most everybody.

And for those staying along the coast through the New Year, those sweat shirts may give way to more bathing suits before the umbrellas come out for the weekend.

As the area of high pressure moves east on Friday, winds will veer to the east and that will modify the cold and dry air mass allowing for slightly warmer weather, with highs in the 60s and 70s.

The next storm system to move out of the plains will bring a cold front and thunderstorms to the area along with warmer weather on Saturday, with a cooler and drier air mass in place behind the front Sunday through New Year’s Day.

Friday will be partly sunny and slightly warmer with highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Late Friday night, winds will turn to the south and eventually the southwest ahead of our next cold front that will arrive on Saturday. The southerly flow will move a warm and moist air mass into the area starting late Friday, with a chance for showers and a few embedded thunderstorms late Friday night and Saturday.

"This is not a credit card-fuelled bonanza," Mr Chalke said. "Many people have their finances back under control, they have reduced their debt and added to their savings. If someone wants a new washing machine, they now wait until the sales because they know the bargains are going to be there - and they can get it for half price."

University of Adelaide marketing senior lecturer Dr Roberta Veale said retailers were offering bargains that shoppers found difficult to refuse.

"The retailers have certainly done a good job in putting out really attractive offers," Dr Veale said.

Westfield SA regional manager Malcolm Creswell said the number of people shopping at the Marion, Tea Tree Plaza and West Lakes shopping centres yesterday was up on last year.

However, those city shoppers who had parked at the Centre Point Car Park on Rundle St on Boxing Day were unable to leave for several hours because of roadworks being carried out by Adelaide City Council.
