オリジナルメンバーによる ASIA 再興に合わせて発売された、Geffen Records による最新のベストアルバム。1枚ものとしては、「CLASSIC ASIA（2001）」「THE BEST OF ASIA（2003）」に続くもの。収録曲数は、17曲、12曲ときて、今回は16曲に増えているのだが、「Wildest Dreams」「Here Comes The Feeling」「Wishing」と「Go」のリミックス版が追加されている。結成から25年が経っていて、とにかく初心者対策が必要なのは分かるが、そろそろコアなファンのためにも、未発表音源のCD化などを進めてもらいたいところである。

GOLD / ASIA (2005)

Geffen Records は2000年以降、1～2年おきにベストアルバムをリニューアルしているが、これは「ANTHOLOGIA（2002）」が改題されたもの。収録曲やその順序、クレジットは全く同一。ジャケットを良く見ると、

「B0004521-02 Replaces Anthologia The 20th Anniversary / Geffen Years Collection (1982-1990) 069 493 254-2」

という注記がある。音質は一部改善されたようで、ブックレットも充実してはいる。

曲数を12曲に絞ってデジタルリマスターした1枚組のベストアルバム。同じ1枚組のベストアルバム「CLASSIC ASIA（2001）」と比較すると、頭数を揃えるために無理矢理「ASIA（1982）」「ALPHA（1983）」から引っ張ってくるのを止めて、代わりに「Daylight」「Voice Of America」「Days Like These」を収録して、初心者向けバランスを改善した感がある。

Geffen Records による2枚組の全曲収録アルバム。当然ながらサントラ「OVER THE TOP（1987）」収録の「Gypsy Soul」と「LIVE MOCKBA（1991）」収録の「Kari-Anne」は無視されている。「THEN AND NOW（1990）」では、「thanks to」とだけクレジットされていた「Days Like These」の Guy Roche、「Prayn' 4 A Miracle」のJamie Green について、前者は無視、後者は「background vocals」とすることで、オリジナルメンバーの“参加”と可能な限り辻褄を合わせている。

「THEN AND NOW（1990）」を完全に無視した1枚組ベストアルバム。しかも、「ASIA（1982）」からは「Here Comes The Feeling」を除く全8曲、「ALPHA（1983）」からは「My Own Time (I'll Do What I Want)」「True Colors」「Midnight Sun」を除く全7曲が収録されたのに対して、Steve Howe 離脱後の「ASTRA（1985）」からは、「Go」「Too Late」の2曲のみ収録と、完全にオリジナルメンバー時代に比重が置かれた、入門者向けの選曲。

ただ、それでもマニア向けマストアイテムとなっているのは、何の間違いだか、John Wetton と Carl Palmer が、Don Airey、Robin George と組んで ASIA 再興を図った際の The Marquee Club ライブの写真が載っているため。左端はゲストギタリストの Phil Manzanera。

1999年にオリジナルメンバーでの ASIA 復活が模索されたせいか、2000年以降、Geffen Records は相次いでベストアルバムを発売する。これはその第1弾で、シングルカットされた楽曲を中心とした1枚組。シングルB面で長らくCD化されなかった(8)(10)(18)が収録されたという点で、マニアの期待に応えた。「THEN AND NOW（1990）」に収録されていた「Day Like These」について、録音に参加しなかったと言われる Geoff Downes がキーボードとしてはっきりクレジットされ、「thanks to」としてクレジットされていた Guy Roche の名前は消されている。
