2019年末の大失敗
The biggest mistake I made at the end of 2019
昨年末は、本当に数々の失敗をしました。
頂いた絵画を飾ろうと、フックをモルタルの壁に打ち付ける時、フックと留め金が別付けなのにも関わらず、フックを留め金に通さず、留め金だけを壁に打ち付ける
こんな時に限ってしっかり止めて、抜くのに四苦八苦
年賀状の表と裏をパソコンで印刷して、手書きでコメントをビッチり書いたら、何と宛先別人のはがきだった
印刷からやり直しです…
「ぼ～っと生きてんじゃないよ！」と、チコちゃんに叱られそうな年末の喧騒の中、最大の大失敗をしてしまいました！
なんと、スマホを無くしてしまったのです

The most shocking incident, which happened at the end of last year, was... I lost my smartphone
1日目 On the First Day
事が起きたのは、クリスマス前のとある寒い日。
私は、千葉駅近くのイタリアンレストランで友人とワインなどを堪能
楽し過ぎて2次会へ～
帰りに千葉駅に行くと、最終電車が津田沼駅止まりで家に帰れず。
津田沼駅で、スマホを取り出し、バスなどないかとチェックしようとして…
スマホが～～スマホがどこにもない～～～
結局その日はタクシーで帰りました
It was a cold day just before Christmas.
I enjoyed dining and drinking with my friends at an Italian restaurant near Chiba Station.
It was so exciting time that we went an after-party drinking.
On my way home, I noticed that the last train from Chiba Station would terminate at Tsudanuma Station, which is apart from my house.

At Tsudanuma, I tried to check on my smart phone if there is a bus that I can use...but...I couldn't find my smartphone!
It was gone!!!
Finally I went back home without my smartphone by taxi.
2日目 On the second day
AUの「故障紛失サポート（月額630円）」に入っているので、１回３千円で、故障、紛失、盗難など、トラブルの際に「交換用携帯電話機お届けサービス」を受けられます。
とは言え、色々データが入っているし、お気に入りのカバーなども付いてるし‥‥ということで、頑張って探すことにしました。
As I have paid ￥639 per month for "Repair and Delivery Support" by AU, I can use "Replacement mobile phone delivery service" at the charge of ￥3,000 in the event of malfunction, loss, theft, or other incidents that may occur with my smartphone.
But...my smartphone has a lot of data inside and covered with my favorite case. So I decided to look for it at any cost.
最近のスマホにはGPSという素晴らしい機能が付いています。 まずパソコンを開いて追跡することに!
しかし…何と「デバイスにアクセスできません」という表示が～～～
スマホの電源が故意に切られたとしか考えられませんが、ロックもかかっているし、デバイスデータを消去せずにそのまま探すことにしました。
Recently the smartphone has many convenient functions like GPS which lets you know where it is.
I checked it on my PC to find the message telling, "Its's impossible to access the device".
That means my smartphone's power was turned off.
一次会のレストランに置き忘れた可能性を考え、連絡を入れると、何と日曜休みでお休み～
二次会の飲み屋の開店時間16：00pmに連絡すると、「携帯電話の忘れ物はありませんでしたよ」とのことでした
一次会のレストランに置き忘れた可能性が高いと思い直し、翌日まで待つことにしました。
I thought there was a strong possibility to have left my smartphone at the Italian restaurant I visited first.
Unfortunately it closed on Sundays and I couldn't make contact with the restaurant.
I called the bar, which told me "There were no smartphones left on that day".
I had to wait until the next day when the Italian restaurant would open.

3日目 On the Third Day
一次回のイタリアンレストラン開店と同時に電話連絡。しかし…
「携帯電話の忘れ物はありませんでした」とのこと...「うそ～～！」
とりあえず
「JRのお忘れ物ご案内」をネットで調べて、以下を確認。
JR千葉駅忘れ物承り所、電話番号 043-222-1774
（平日・土曜 9：00～20：00、日曜・祝日 9：00～17：00）
ところが、ここで問題が～～ この電話、何度書けてもお話し中で、つながらないのです
口コミにも、「全然つながらない～～」と書かれていました。
18:00pm、千葉駅付近の警察に電話で問い合わせ。
担当の会計係の連絡先を聞くも、受付は8:30am~17:00pmとのこと。 翌日にかけることにしました。
As soon as the Italian restaurant opened, I called and asked them whether there was a lost cell phone two nights before. Their answer was "There were no cell phones left at the restaurant". I was so disappointed.
I cheked the internet and found the page and the telephone number of the lost and found office at JR Chiba Station.
Then another problem happened. The line was so busy that I couldn't connect to the line no matter how many times I tried.
The problem was also written in word-of-mouth information.

JR East Infoline/Customer support
Information about the newest JR East trains and the lost and found assitance is provided in English, Chinese and Korean.
Telephone Number is 050-2016-1603 (from 10:00 to 18:00).
Finally I called the police box near JR Chiba Station at 18:00pm. I was told like this. "There is the accounting division in charge of the lost and found which opens from 8:30am to 17:00pm. It has already closed so please call again tomorrow. The telephone number is XXXX."
I had to wait until the next day.
4日目 On the Fourth Day
8:30pm、警察の会計係に問い合わせ。丁寧に応じてくれるものの見つからず
念のため、JR千葉駅に問い合わせた方が良いと、教えてもらう。
「電話は掛かりずらいと思いますが、根気強く掛けてください」とのこと。
さらに、JRの忘れ物は、一定期間（駅によって異なる）保管後、持ち主が現れない時に警察に回ってくると教わる。
頑張って、JR千葉駅に電話を掛けましたが、100回近く掛けても電話は通じず
I called the accounting division of the police station.
A police woman in charge was very polite and said that there are so many smartphones brought to the police station every day.
She tried to find mine, but in vain.
She suggested to me that I should ask JR Chiba Station first just in case, saying
"It can be hard to connect the line, but keep trying patiently."
I tried to connect the line again and again...I might have tried 100 times, but in vain.
5日目 On the Fifth Day
JR千葉駅に朝から電話するも通じず。
もうJR千葉駅行くしかないと覚悟を決めた11:00am、なんと電話が通じました～～～
口コミで「応対が横柄」なんていう情報もあったのですが、とても丁寧に応対してくれました。
スマホの特徴や、どの電車に乗ったかなども伝えると、しばらく待たされ…
I tried to connect the line to JR Chiba Station from 9:00 in the morning but I couldn't.
Around 11:00am I nearly gave up callling and thought that I had no choice but to go to Chiba Station.
Suddenly, to my astonishment, I succeeded in connecting the line!!
A man on the phone was kind enough to listen to me carefully, very different from the word-in-mouth information saying, "the attitude of the station staff in charge is awful".
I told him my smartphone's character, the train I used, etc.
I had to keep waiting for a few minutes.
なんと津田沼駅にそれらしきものがあると教えてくれました
もう、ほとんど泣きそうでした
その後、津田沼駅ホームにある「忘れ物預り所」に向かい、遂に無事、スマホを捕獲できました
After a while he told me that there is a smartphone looking like mine at Tsudanuma Station.
I nearly burst into tears and greatly appreciated his help.
I went to the lost and found office on the platform of Tusdanuma Station and succeeded in getting back my smartphone.
この一件でわかったことは、駅でも警察でも、ものすごい数の携帯電話の忘れ物・落とし物が届くので、携帯の電源は速攻で落とされるこということです。GPSで調べられないわけです。
I learnt a very important thing this time.
There are so many cell phones left and brought to JR stations and police stations.
So the power of cell pones are turned off immediately.
That's why it's imposseible to access the device using GPS.
That's the end of my tragic...but happy (?) story.
後日談 A Sequel
実は、ネットで調べていくと、もし携帯が圏外か電源オフになっていても、お客さまセンターに連絡すると、最後に通信をした基地局から推定される、おおよその位置を調べることができるというサービスがありました。焦っていたから見つからなかった～～～
There is a service provided by AU which makes it possible to find the place where the smartphone was connected the line last, even if the power was turned off.
