The crucial point of the book of Nehemiah is that the city of Jerusaem was a safeguard and protection for the house of God, which was in the city. This signifies that the house of God as His dwelling place and home on the earth needs His kingdom to be established as a realm to safeguard His interest on the earth for His administraton, to carry out His economy. The rebuilding of the house of God typifies God's recovery of the degraded church, and the rebuilding of the wall of the city of Jerusalem typifies God's recovery of His kingdom. God's building of His house and His building of His kingdom go together. The house of God on the earth needs His kingdom to safeguard the house and to carry out His eternal economy.

in Exodus chapter 20, we see the Ten Commandments God gave to the Israel people. this is also called the Testimony of God. the two tablets with the Ten Commandments written by the God are called the Testimony. the ark within which the two tablets are put is called the Ark of the Testimony. the tabernacle within which is the Ark is called the tabernacle of Testimony.
what is the purpose of God by giving Israel the Ten Commandments? on the postive aspect, the law, the Ten Commandments is the testimony, the portrait of God, to show us what kind of God He is. from the Ten Commandments we can see that God is loving, righteous, holy, etc. on the negative aspect, God wants to expose that no human being is able to keep all the commandments, because we are sinful, unrighteous, unholy and cannot meet God's requirments so that we will realise how much we need to depend on God.
the first three commandments reveal God's desire is that we will know that He is the unique God, no other gods. We will worship and serve God only, not any other false idols. God must be the unique God to us.
the fourth commandment is related to keeping the Sabbath. the real significance of keeping Sabbath is that we must stop ourselves, stop all our own effort and striving, in order to be one with God. God has done, is doing, and will do everything for us, so we do not need self labor but we can rest with God as the Almighty One.
the fifth commandment charges us to honor our parents. God is the origin of our parents. when we honor parents, we honor God.
the next five commandments are concerned with our relationship with one another. we should not kill, not commit adultery, not steal, not lie, and not covet. this testify that our God is the God of love, purity, sympathy and truthfulness. if we, as God's people behave in such a way, the community will be marvelous place to live in.

Malachi 3:16 Then those who feared Jehovah spoke to one another, each with his neighbor. And Jehovah gave heed and listened, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who feared Jehovah and considered His name.
Malachi 3:17 And they will be Mine, says Jehovah of hosts, a personal treasure, in the day that I prepare; and I will spare them, as a man spares his son who serves him.
when we consider, love, regard, respect, and sanctify God's name, God keeps a record of this in His book of remembrance.
and verse 17 tells us that, furthermore, we will beomce His personal treasure. how wonderful this is !
