Ephesians 3:16

2018年06月22日 10時18分54秒 | Verse Sharing

Ephesians 3:16 That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit into the inner man,

"according to the riches of His glory"

The strengthening from the Father is not only according to the degree of God’s glory but even to the riches of His glory. Glory is God manifested. If we pray that we may be strengthened into our inner man, the result will be that we are full of God’s expression. When God is expressed, there is glory. The riches of His glory are the divine virtues—namely, love, life, light, holiness, and righteousness. These riches of God’s expression will be seen in us. Others will sense the glory of God upon us. This is the meaning of God’s strengthening us according to the riches of His glory.

"with power"

Ephesians 1:19 And what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the operation of the might of His strength,

Ephesians 1:20 Which He caused to operate in Christ in raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavenlies,

Ephesians 1:21 Far above all rule and authority and power and lordship and every name that is named not only in this age but also in that which is to come;

This is the very power that sufficed to raise Christ from the dead, uplift Him to the third heaven, and seat Him there far above all. It is with this same power that God the Father would strengthen us.

"through His Spirit"

It is through the Spirit of God that we are strengthened with power.

"into the innter man"

our ourter man is the old man, which is the soul. and our inner man is the regenerated spirit where the Spirit is indwelling. we are too used to living in the outer man. so most of the time in our daily living, we are in the outer man, which means that we are out of the inner man. this is why the apostile Paul used the word "into", instead of "in". we need to be stregthened back into the inner man.

The way to be streghtened

The best way to be drawn into your inner man is to pray.

“Lord, I need You. I want to breathe You in. Impart Yourself into the depths of my being. I long to see You. Meet me as I pray-read Your Word. Add more and more of Yourself to me.”

If you spend some time praying this way, you will find that you are transferred from your mind, emotion, will, or even your heart, and into your spirit. You will be strengthened through the Spirit of God with power. The Father longs to see us live this way. His good pleasure is that we be strengthened into the inner man according to the riches of His glory.

The issue of being stregthened

1. When we are thus strengthened, Christ will make His home in our heart, and we will be filled unto all the fullness of God. By being filled with God’s riches, we become the expression of those riches. We are strengthened into our inner man, Christ makes His home in our heart, and we are filled even to the extent of the full expression of God.

2. When the Lord wholly occupies us, we are one with all believers. This oneness is the meaning of being built together.

The First Fall of Man

2018年06月21日 10時39分32秒 | Enlightenment&Enjoyment

in Genesis chapter 3, the serpent came to Eve, and tempted her to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. and Eve also gave Adam to eat the fruit. so, here is the first fall of man. we need to fully get the significance of this fall.

the cause of the fall

1. Satan

most people would be like me, think that the cause of the fall surely is because of Satan, the serpent. of course, this is not wrong. but the cause is not primarily falling on the serpent. we will see this later. but Satan is Satan, we cannot expect him to be better. Satan is the initial factor of the fall. Satan has a few names? or titles in the Bible.

a. "the tempter"

Matthew 4:3 And the tempter came and said to Him, If You are the Son of God, speak that these stones may become loaves of bread

after His baptism, the Spirit led the Lord into the wilderness, where Satan came to tempt the Lord three times. but, our Lord is the Overcomer, the victorious One, who overcame the tempter.

b. "the devil"

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast down, the ancient serpent, he who is called the Devil and Satan, he who deceives the whole inhabited earth; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

"the devil" means the "slanderer".  He slanders God to man and also slanders man to God. His talk with Eve implies some slandering of God. His slander is always a lie. It is by slanderous lies that he tempts man, and in this way he tempted Eve.

c. the way Satan tempted

how did the serpent tempt Eve in the garden of Eden? by making proposal and asking questions. the serpent came to ask Eve, "did God really say...?" this injected doubting throughts into the mind of Eve. what lessons should we learn from this? we should never never doubt the word of God. rather, we are believers, so we believe every word in the Bible, every word God speaks to us.

2. the woman assumed the headship

if we say the temptation from the serpent is the outward cause, then the inner cause is that Eve assumed the headship.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ.

from this verse, we can see that God has ordained that woman should be under the headship of man. but in Genesis 3, we see that when the serpent came to talk to Eve. Eve did not turn to check with her husband. Rather, Eve stood on her own and made the decision, without asking her husband. this is still true for us today. God is our Husband, and we should all depend on Him and take the position of the woman, the wife. God is our Husband and our Head, and we must always keep ourselves under His covering. The woman must cover her head and never assume the headship (1 Cor. 11:3, 5, 14-15). Since God is our Head we should always turn to Him.

the process of the fall

1. not using the spirit

Adam and Eve failed because they did not use their spirit. If Eve had turned to the spirit, there would have been no problem. Our husband is with our spirit. However, if we remain in our mind it means that we are assuming the headship, setting our mind to behave independently. This is awful and sinful. We must realize that our husband is with our spirit and exercise our spirit accordingly.

How do you know when you are using your spirit? It is very easy. Whenever you do a certain thing or contact a person without being with God it proves that you are not using your spirit. Regardless of what you do, if you are independent of God and not contacting Him while you are doing it, it proves that you are not in the spirit. Be assured that in such a case you will suffer loss. We all must learn to contact God in everything. As long as we contact Him, we are in our spirit.

2. the soul was exercised

Eve did not use her spirit when talking with the serpent. rather, she was using her soul so much. her mind was used to reason and doubt the word of God. her emotion was used when she looked at the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and she was attracted. her will was used when she decided to take the fruit from that tree. for us, we are now living in the age in which we are trained to overexercise our soul.

The best lesson for us all to learn is to be quiet in our thinking. If we are able to stop our thinking and turn to prayer, it proves that we are a person walking with the Lord and living in His presence.

3. the body acting

When the spirit is neglected and the soul is exercised, the body becomes a slave serving our purpose. The eye sees, the hand takes, and the mouth eats.

the result of the fall

1. the soul corrupted

The first result of the fall was that the soul of man was corrupted, contaminated, and ruined. It was contaminated because the soul accepted and received the Devil's thought and word. even before Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, her soul was already cotaminated, because she was talking with the serpent and allowing the word of the devil to get into her.

2. the body changed in nature

our human body was originally created by God as a vessel to contain God. but because of the fall, the body was then changed in nature, having the element of the tree of knowledge, the element of Satan, added to it, making it the flesh. now, this evil element, the sin has entered into our body, and is still dwelling in our body, making it flesh.

3. the spirit deadened

As a consequence of the fall man's spirit was deadened, becoming insulated from God and losing its function toward God.

4. man is constituted as a sinner

Romans 5:19 For just as through the disobedience of one man the many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be constituted righteous.

we are sinners not because we sin or make mistakes. we sin and we do make mistakes, because we are constituted sinners.

5. man is condemned

Romans 5:18 So then as it was through one offense unto condemnation to all men, so also it was through one righteous act unto justification of life to all men.

we are included in Adam, so by the disobedience of Adam, his transgressing God's commandment, we are now all under the comdemnation.

6. man brought in the curse

Genesis 3:17 And to Adam He said, Because you listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree concerning which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil will you eat of it All the days of your life.

Genesis 3:18 And thorns and thistles it will bring forth for you, And you will eat the herb of the field;

Genesis 3:19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread Until you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.

The first fall of man brought in the curse. We may count the items of the curse: the curse itself, sorrow, thorns, thistles, and sweat. These are the items of the curse.

7. man was cast out of paradise

Genesis 3:23 Therefore Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he was taken.

Genesis 3:24 So He drove the man out, and at the east of the garden of Eden He placed the cherubim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

As a result of the fall man was also cast out of paradise, out of the realm of life (vv. 23-24). Paradise was the realm of life which included the tree of life and the sphere in which man may receive life. Thus, to be cast out of paradise means to be driven away from the sphere of life.

8. bring in death

Romans 5:17 For if by the offense of the one death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

the ultimate result of the fall is that death was brought in. first, man's spirit was deadend, and eventuall, this death spreaded into the entire being of man. Through Adam's transgression sin entered into the world and death through sin. Death reigns over all men.

This prevailing preaching depends on life, truth, the church, and service. If you have these four items, then you will have a strong standing and a prevailing preaching. Do not think that our preaching was only in the past. Rather, that was only a start. From now on, we must take preaching as our living. Week after week, month after month, and year after year we are living here for this—to win the world for Christ and win souls for Christ. In order to do this, we have to be filled with Christ, we have to have light, we have to be in the church, and we have to be functioning members. Then we will be prevailing in our preaching.

The best lesson for us all to learn is to be quiet in our thinking. If we are able to stop our thinking and turn to prayer, it proves that we are a person walking with the Lord and living in His presence. However, if you are a talkative person, so active and strong in your mind, it will be difficult for you to calm yourself for a few minutes of prayer. Such a person exercises his soul continually.
