You shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and you shall destroy all their figured stones and destroy all their molten images and demolish all their high places;

God has ordained Christ to be our portion for our enjoyment, but we must cooperate with God’s ordination by driving out everything within us that is other than God and Christ. We must destroy all the idols within us and not leave any ground within us for the worship of idols. Only then can we have the genuine enjoyment of Christ.
