HPS養成事業を始めてから毎年のことなのですが、２月は私にとって、
また事務局スタッフにとって、本当に目まぐるしい１カ月となります
大学内での講義、そしてシンポに加え、英国から優秀なHPSを招聘し、
他機関様へ講演にも行ってもらったり、とにかく２月は忙しかった
先週１８日には、静岡県立大学地域経営研究センターの社会人学習講座の一環として、
ホスピタル・プレイに関する講義と演習を企画したところ、多くの参加者が
全国からまた集まって頂き、これもまたうれしいことでした
私が今年度の後期の授業を振り返って思うことは、
「講義を担当した修了生がものすごく成長したなあ、逞しくなっているな」ということです
それぞれの病院には様々な制約があるものの、それを掻い潜り、
ホスピタル・プレイを定着させている様子に本当に頭が下がる思いがしました
日総研のセミナーにも修了生を投入させていただいたのですが、
その結果、修了生はとても良いワークショップができるなと思いました
今考えられるワークショップは・・・
１． 子どもにやさしい医療環境づくりとプレパレーションのためのツールづくり
２． 子どもにやさしい採血方法と、効果的なデストラックションツールの選定
３． 治療や処置を受ける子どもの気持ちを知ろう！
シナリオを使ったロールプレイを通して
４． 障害のある子どもたちと豊かな遊びの方法
の４つでしょうか？
最後に、毎年NYからゲストスピーカーとして治癒的な遊びを教えてくれる、デビーの様子を少し
デビーは遠くNYに住んでいますが、１年に１回、
HPS講義に参画することを本当に楽しみにしてくれています。
DebがアメリカのCLに送った報告メールも紹介させていただきます。
遊びはすべての垣根を超えますね！
チャイルドケアの専門家集団として、私たちもいつも
寛容でやさしくあらねばならないと、改めて考えた次第です
Dear Forum,
I really do love my job! And I feel so happy today, that I hope it's okay to share why.
Last night, I was a guest lecturer for the second time (last year it was two weeks before the earthquake) at the University of Shizuoka, in Shizuoka City, Japan. Through the marvelous use of Skype, I led a class of Hospital Play Specialist students in a hands-on therapeutic play activity, the making and exploding of volcanos.
During this activity, Professor Chika Matsudaira graciously translated while I lectured on how to reach angry or withdrawn children in the hospital environment through play. The students were highly interactive and responsive, and they shared that the activity caused them to feel "joyous", "empowered" and "in touch with their own emotions". They also shared that although in Japan, politeness and obedience are highly valued in children, that as a new generation, they also see the value of children expressing their true feelings through play.
I love how close and small the world felt as these students practiced an activity that I have enjoyed over the years with my American child life students. Even though it was nighttime in New York City, and the following morning in Japan, our combined passions and motivation to help children knew no time or geographic (or language!) boundaries.
I want to thank Chika and her students for welcoming me into their classroom and opening their learning selves to these activities. I could see that they had also worked on syringe painting, as there was a huge piece of artwork adorning the wall of the classroom that showed their work creation. Play truly is a universal language!
I strongly encourage these kinds of collaborative efforts among the international child life community. They are win win for all involved.
