西岸地区の Bilin という村では、2008年からイスラエルが建設を進めてる分離壁の撤去や占領政策に抗議するデモが複数回行われている。
実際、去年12月末にも複数回デモが行われた。
が、去年12月31日に行われた抗議デモの最中、一人の女性が病院に搬送→意識不明→亡くなってしまった。
その理由としては、イスラエル軍が抗議デモの人達に対して打ち込んだ催涙ガスのせい、なんてのが浮上してきたのだが・・・。

元々、Jawaher さんは Bilin での抗議デモに（家族とともに）参加していたらしい。

By the evening, the PA updated the IDF that the two had been released to their homes.
The next morning, the IDF suddenly received a report that Abu Rahma had been killed.

しかし、Jawaher さんが昔から白血病を患っていたとしても、急に症状が悪化するもんか？
例えその症状が急性白血病だっただとしても、末期症状なら抗議デモに参加しないと思うけど・・・。

"As I closed one of the windows, I saw [Jawaher] lose consciousness because of the gas, and I ran to her with Aslam to take her away," Ilham said.
"We lifted her together and carried her to the yard of my house. We called for help and she began to vomit. She had foam on her mouth."

ちなみに、嘔吐云々ってのは、催涙ガスを吸い込んだ際に出る症状。
この証言が事実だとすれば、Jawaher さんは部屋の中で催涙ガス弾を大量に吸い込んだため意識不明→亡くなった、という展開になるか。
ただ、そのような症状が出るとしても、Jawaher さんが以前から何らかの理由で体力が奪われていた、という可能性は排除できないんだよな。
実際、Jawaher さんは数週間前に迷路炎（inner ear disease：Labyrinthitis：内耳の病気。平衡感覚が損なわれる）の症状を訴えていた模様。
