UCLAからドラフト1巡指名された選手としては、トロイ・エイクマン（1989年）、トミー・マドックス（1992年）、ケイド・マクノウン（1999年）に続いて４人目とのこと。これでジェッツとの対戦は、USCとUCLAの２年目のQB対決となる可能性もあり。
