マレーシアの異文化を探検して、KL のバードパークを発見しました。
「おとなの基礎英語」を買ってきて、勉強を開始しました。

Golden eagles have been known to reuse their nesting sites repeatedly, repairing the nests whenever necessary and enlarging them during each use. As such, the nest of the Golden Eagle may weigh well over 250 kg!

The largest known Golden Eagle nest was 6.1 m deep and 2.59 m in width.

The present-day city of Fukushima partially consists of most of the former Shinobu and Date districts and a portion of the former Adachi district. The city is located in the Fukushima Basin's southwest area and nearby mountains.

There are many onsen on the outskirts of the city, including the resort areas of Iizaka Onsen, Takayu Onsen, and Tsuchiyu Onsen. Fukushima is also the location of the Fukushima Race Course, the only Japan Racing Association horse racing track in the Tōhoku region of Japan.

As of May 2011 the city had an estimated population of 290,064 and an area of 746.43 km²

小山市のあゆみ

　栃木県の南部に位置する小山市は、市の中央を南北に流れる思川によって東西に2分され、西は沖積層の低地、東は洪積層の台地になっています。

　洪積層の台地の下からは約40万年前のものとみられるナウマンゾウの歯の化石が、また、台地の上からは約3万5千年前のものとみられる石器がそれぞれ発見されるなど古くからの自然と歴史があります。

　東部にある寺野東遺跡からは、約4000～3000年前の縄文時代中・後期の水場や巨大な環状盛土の遺構が発見され、当時の人々が数百年にわたって定住生活を営んでいた様子がわかっています。

　北部にある琵琶塚古墳・摩利支天塚古墳は、県内で最大規模の前方後円墳として知られ、小山が古代下野国の中枢部に位置していたことがわかります。

　歴史上、「小山」の地名が登場するのは、平安時代に記された「和名抄」の中で下野国都賀郡の11郷の1つとして紹介されているのが初めてです。地名の由来については、諸説がありますが、思川西部の低地から見ると東部の台地が小さな山の形をしていることからその名がついたというのが有力です。

　鎌倉時代から戦国時代にかけては、下野国の守護や鎌倉幕府の評定衆として活躍した小山氏の本拠地となったところです。市内に残る鷲城跡や祗園城跡は、空堀や土塁で区画された中世城館の面影を今日に伝えています。

　江戸時代初期には、譜代大名の本多正純が小山城主となりますが、本多氏の転封後は、城は廃城となり、城跡には、徳川将軍家の日光社参の際に休憩所となる小山御殿が造営され、以後他藩や幕府の支配下に置かれるようになりました。日光街道の中で佐野・栃木・結城・壬生の各方面への脇道が分岐する宿場町として賑わいを見せる一方で内陸水路としての思川の舟運による多くの河岸も栄えました。

　明治時代になると東北本線・両毛線・水戸線の各鉄道が開業し、物資の集散地として発展をとげるようになりました。明治22年には、町村制が施行され、小山・間々田・生井・大谷・穂積・寒川・中・豊田・桑・絹の10の町や村が誕生しました。　戦後の昭和29年に小山町と大谷村が合併して小山市が誕生し、以後周辺の町村を次々に合併して、昭和40年に現在の小山市となりました。


　現在、国道4号線・新4号線・50号線の幹線国道とJR東北本線・東北新幹線・両毛線・水戸線とがそれぞれ東西南北に走り、陸上交通の要衝として、また、東京圏から60 キロメートルという立地利便性を生かして工業団地や住宅地が次々と増え、平成17年には人口16万人を超え、県下第2の都市として名実共に躍進を続けています。
