On our suffering churches and relief activities

A Report from Pastor Ito of Izumi Fukuin Chapel 5/16

Praise the Lord.
Thank you for your consistent prayers and support.

The relief work in Higashi Matsushima city, Miyagi prefecture and Rikuzen Takada city, Iwate prefecture still continues. On Saturday the 14th we provided meals in the Akai neighborhood of Higashi Matsushima city for the tenth time.
This time we had around 50 workers made up of volunteers from 4 Brazilian-Japanese churches in Tochigi prefecture, members and “seekers” from Izumi Fukuin Chapel.
This time we were also able to minister the Love of the Lord to around 250 people, generously declaring the Glory of God. Praise the Lord!

The report is a little late, but the contracts for the “JAG Tohoku Earthquake Relief Center Dorm” were complete on Thursday the 12th by executive committee members Pastor Funatsu and Pastor Odajima. On Friday the 13th the renovations were completed, and after Sunday worship on the 15th members from Izumi Fukuin Chapel as well as volunteers from the JAG moved bedding and everyday goods from Izumi Fukuin Chapel (which has served as volunteer lodging up to this point) and cleaned the new dormitory well into the evening. Even today, Monday the 16th, there is still cleaning being done and errands being run in preparation for arriving volunteers.
The dorm is connected to the warehouse that we have been using since April and is a two story wooden structure. The first floor was previously used as a restaurant so it has a large kitchen, a hall which can hold around 20 people and a toilet. The second floor consists of a 4 and a half tatami western style room, 6 tatami and 8 tatami sized Japanese style rooms, a kitchen, toilet, and bathing room. The tatami, sliding wood doors and wall paper has all being renovated so it feels brand new.

Even this week we are scheduled to have 7 or 8 JAG volunteers come and we are so thankful that we can finally use the dormitory. I would appreciate if you would pray that more and more people could use the dorm in the future and that the relief and rebuilding activities would continue moving forward.
