Beginners (I&II) classes start on the 26th

A Happy New Year to everyone.

I hope everyone has had a nice winter break over the Christmas and New Year's Day.

I have an important announcement:

Our first class starts on Monday, the 26th of January (for beginners and beginners II/Intermediate classes at the ACC).
The class hours are the same as the last semester.


You may notice that this date is different from what I previously said (I have told you and written on my blog that we would start on the 12th).

But the ACC changed their mind and they have decided to start the language classes from the week of the 19th. However, since the 19th of Jan. (Monday) is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and thus the ACC is closed. Therefore our class has to wait until the 26th to start.

I hope you will understand, and I am looking forward to seeing you all on the 26th.

Spring Semester Classes

Spring Semester starts on Monday, January 12th.

Time slot remains the same as this (Fall) semester:

Beginners I (continuing from the Fall semester) : 6-7:10pm
Beginners II (continuing from the Fall semester) : 7:15-8:10pm

The end of the fall semester

Beginners class
Monday Nov. 24th - from 6pm to 7pm (I'll bring my baby with me)
Monday Dec. 1st - this is our last class of this semester

Beginners II class
Monday Nov. 24th - there is no class (Sorry!)
Monday Dec. 1st - this is our last class this semester

Advanced class
Tuesday Nov. 25th - there is no class (Sorry!)
Tuesday Dec. 2nd - this is our last class this semester

As for when the new semester begins, I will let you know as soon as I find it out.

Class Schedule for Advanced Class

Since I cannot offer more than 2 classes in a row at the Asian Culture Center this year due to the fact that I have a 5-month-old baby (as of September 2008), I am offering an advanced class at my own place (about 10 minutes drive from IU campus) on Tuesdays, from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm.

Fall Semester

From Fall Semester (September 8th -), we are on a new schedule.

My classes will be held on Monday evenings. (Please take note that it is shifted from Tuesdays!)

(1) 6:00-7:10pm Total Beginners
(2) 7:15-8:15pm Beginners II to Intermediate (to Advanced)

I will adjust class schedules after the first few weeks, according to how many and what level of students turn up to the classes.

I wish I could do 3 classes instead of just 2, so that I can have
Total Beginners, Beginners II to Intermediate, and Advanced.

But at the moment I cannot commit myself to do so, since I don't know
how it goes with teaching in the evening with our baby at home, with
the help of my husband.

So let's see how many of what level of students will turn up at the
first few classes, and we can make adjustments if necessary.

IMPORTANT!!

For ADVANCED level students, if there are a lot of Total Beginners
and Beginners II to Intermediate students to fill up both time slots,
I may offer an informal advanced class at my home, on a different
day of the week. (But in this case, you may have to put up with
having the baby around during the class, and also you need to travel
to my house.) Let's talk about it when the semester begins. In any
case, let's keep in touch!

The end of Spring Term and replacement teacher

Spring Term:
It ends on May 2nd, and so we will have yet another three classes until the end of spring term (15th, 22nd and 29th of April).

Replacement Teacher:
As most of the students already know, I have found a replacement teacher, Sachi, for my classes that I have to miss due to my baby's birth that is expected one of these days.

I am still hoping to teach the classes next week (15th), but if the circumstances should not allow me, then Sachi will cover the class.
And in any case Sachi is going to give you the classes on the 22nd and the 29th of April.

So, the classes next week (on the 15th) will be my last class with you before I can come back in the fall semester. Please do try to make it! Hope to see you all next week ;-)

No class on 3/11/2008

Due to the spring break at IU, Asian Culture Center (ACC) will be closed next week, and so we won't have any language classes next week.

So I'll see you on March 18th.

The first class in January

Happy New Year, everyone!（みなさま、あけましておめでとうございます。）
Hope you have had a nice winter break.

新年（しんねん）の最初（さいしょ）のクラスは１月１５日（火曜日）です。

Our first class in this year at ACC is January 15th, Tuesday.
Hope to see everyone there on the 15th!

Winter Break

There will be no class from next week until January --- I have just found out yesterday that Asian Culture Center closes after 5PM from next week on and therefor no language classes in the evening until January. I will let you know when we can start our first class in January when I find it out.

No class on 11/20

I was just informed by an ACC staff that they close their house after 5pm on Mon. and Tue. next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

So there is NO CLASS on 11/20, even though I had originally meant to have our class and informed you so.

Sorry for the last-minute change, I hope you will understand.

It seems we are going to have a potluck on Saturday Dec. 1, so I will probably see you on Sat. Dec. 1!
