KPMGのベルファスト事務所の幹部ら4人が、脱税容疑で逮捕されたという記事。英国の歳入税関庁が同事務所の家宅捜索も行っています。

Four of the Big Four firm’s most senior partners in Ireland have been arrested in connection with suspected tax evasion

The arrests took place after a visit to KPMG’s offices in Belfast city centre yesterday following an investigation by HMRC.

逮捕されたのは、KPMGベルファスト事務所の会長、税務部門責任者、コーポレート・ファイナンス部門責任者、監査・アドバイザリー担当パートナーの4人です。

They have been identified as Jon D'Arcy, Eamonn Donaghy, Arthur O'Brien and Paul Hollway, according to a report in the Belfast Telegraph.

D’Arcy is chairman of KPMG’s Belfast office; Donaghy is head of its tax practice. Hollway is head of corporate finance at KPMG in Ireland and O'Brien is an audit and advisory partner.

KPMGは、今回の捜査が、KPMGやそのクライアントにかかわっていることを示すものはないと述べています。

KPMG said it is cooperating with the investigation and the four men have been placed on "administrative leave".

The firm added that it does not have "any indication that this investigation relates to the business of KPMG or the business of our clients".

4人は、2008年の不動産市場の暴落によて大きな損失を被ったある不動産投資会社の取締役となっているそうです。

Aside from their KPMG roles, the four men are directors in a property investment company called JEAP Ltd.

It made heavy losses when the property market crashed in 2008.

KPMGの業務に関係する脱税ではなく、この不動産投資会社に関連して何か不正があったのかもしれません。
