2007-06-08 17:21:49 | Call
Research in the Sociology of Work is accepting manuscripts for Volume 19, focusing on the "Economic Sociology of Work" (expected publication date March 2009).
We invite manuscripts that address issues of work broadly defined, such as paid and non-paid activities in business and non-profit organizations, in formal and informal economies, entrepreneurship, labor markets, income inequality, social organization of work in cross-national and global contexts. In particular, we welcome articles from sociologists, organizational scholars and economists that analyze these substantive topics by employing conceptual tools of economic sociology and highlight the network, institutional, political and cultural embeddedness of economic activity.

Deadline for submission of manuscripts: May 1, 2008.

East Asian Social Policy Research Network (EASP) 第4回国際会議
Restructuring Care Responsibility: Dynamics of welfare mix in East Asia

東京大学本郷キャンパスで2007年10月20日、21日に開催されます。
EASP国際会議サイト: http://www.welfareasia.org/

報告希望者は 250-300 語の抄録を EASP に送付すること。期限は2007-06-29。

East Asian Social Policy research network (EASP) conferences have
attempted to enhance the quality and quantity of research on fast
changing East Asiansocial policies, and to provide a forum for
exchanging ideas for researchers. As it will be the first EASP
conference outside the U.K., the fourth conference particularly aims to
promote and facilitate academic exchange and network among scholars and
doctoral students who are based in East Asian countries, as well as in
other parts of the world.
The main focus of the fourth EASP conference is to explore the way East
Asian welfare regimes restructure the responsibility of care between
the state, the market and the family (and the voluntary sector) . Care
is increasingly becoming a crucial topic in East Asia welfare regimes
under acute demographic pressures, increasing women's labour market
participation, and related societal transformations.
It will provide a forum for discussing the specific pressures East
Asian countries are facing, for analysing principles and ideas of
relevant social policies, for examining implementation and outcomes of
recent reforms, and for exploring patterns of reforms and the likely
future direction.
