"Actually, one or two years before, no people, just like Japanese youngsters, do not know about the government and what is happening in Hong Kong. They only know the leisure, how to enjoy lives, how to play, and how to do fun with friends. We believe that at this moment Hong Kong is changing. We must come out and do something for us. Otherwise, in the future, we keep no rights to do anything. The government is pushing us and do more and more bad things to us. Now democracy is important. If we do not fight for it, we have no chance. That is why I come out. That is why many people are here. We are weak and want let more people know about our lives and our cultures not only about money and economy. it is only part of our lives. Our life (should be) more things, (should be in ) peaceful place. Now here is very peaceful because everyone want to fight for our democracy and peace. (To young people in Japan) Future is in our hands. If we don't do for it, we'll regret . I do not want to regret. " ( female, twenties)
「実 際、1年か2年前なら、日本の若者みたいに、誰も政府のことなんか、香港で起きていることなんか
気にもしなかった。
楽しむことだけ、どう やって人生を楽し み、遊び、友人とふざけることしか気にしなかった。
でも、私たちは今、香港が変わってきていると思っている。
外に出て何かしなくては。
そ うしなければ、将 来、何もする権利がなくなってしまう。
政府は私たちを追いやっているし、もっともっと悪いことをしている。
今、民主主義が重要だ。
もし、 闘わなければ、も うチャンスはない。
だから、私は出てきた。だから多くの人たちがここにいる。
私たちは弱い。
だから、もっと多くの人に、お金や経済のこと だけではなく、人 生について、私たちの
香港文化について 考えても らいたい。
経済は私たちの生活の一部にすぎない。私たちの人生はもっと何かであるべきだし、
平和的な場所にあるべきだ。
今、ここはとても 平和的な場所だ。
な ぜなら、誰もがここでは民主主義と平和のために闘っているから。
（日本の若者に対して）未来は私たちの手の中にある。.
私たちがそのために 何もしないなら後 悔する。
私は後悔なんかしたくない」（20代女性）

"Hong Kong people have been fighting for democracy for many years under the British colonial time and also after 1997 changing of the sovereignty of China. Chinese government promised us that there would be a universal suffrage. But after 17 years we still do not have true democracy. The discussion about the prospect of 2017 was very disappointing because Chinese government made a decision by National People of Congress to deny true democracy because of controlling of nomination. So they want to hand pick the candidates and let Hong Kong people to vote. We do not want to do that. We want also to have both the right to vote and the right to stand for an election, not be screened out by Chinese government hand-picked committee. That is why we are on the street. We want to have true democracy of Hong Kong to protect our core value of freedom. We will stay here because we have people of Hong Kong fought against tear gas and lots of police violence. We can still stay on because we believe our power and non violence struggle will prevail and win." (male, fifties, a famous politician)

中国政府は普通選挙を約束した。
しかし、（中国返 還から）17年経っても私たちは本当の民主主義をまだ実現

Apple Daily website,http://umbrella.appledaily.com/, was on live coverage though, regrettably speaking, I was not able to understand their conversations because of Cantonese. I will check English news media. I hope the discussion makes even a little advance.

いきなり、直接民主制を求めても受け入れられない可能性が高いと思うので、財界を説得して仲間にできないかということですね。
あるいは、英国流でもいいかもしれませんが。
