A Report from Pastor Ito of Izumi Fukuin Chapel (9/30/2013)

Praise the Lord!
　Thank you all for your consistent and loving prayers and support for the relief work of theHigashiMatsushimaAmazingGraceSupportCenter.

 

　Here at the relief center on Saturday the 28th from noon to 2:30pm we held the “Café and a concert with Jin” featuring pastor Hitoshi Okubo from Yonezawa Gospel church. “Jin” (translators note: the kanji character for “Hitoshi” can also be read “Jin”) is pastor Hitoshi's stage name.

　This time around was pastor Okubo's seventh time to minister here at the Higashi Matsushima Amazing Grace Relief center. He has also ministered many times by performing these concerts at temporary housing sites in towns like Yamamoto in Miyagi prefecture and the Soma area of Fukishima prefecture.
This time we decided to have a concert with “light refreshments” so we began by eating a lunch of yakisoba, hotdogs, drinks and a dessert and after that was finished pastor Okubo's took the stage.

　He sang nearly 20 songs lasting about an hour and a half ranging from hymns to old Japanese classics and folk songs. He sang all these while interspersing personal testimonies and the Word. He has such a great gift for song that the time flew by and was over before anyone knew it.

　Finally, pastor Ito shared a brief word of encouragement from the Bible and closed the event with a prayer of blessing. As everyone headed home we sent them off with a blessing and a gift of tissue boxes and bread that was donated by Costco via Kanazawa Christ church.
Even after cleaning up the event, the craft club that meets at the center stayed around working hard on items that they will sell at the upcoming Tohoku district meeting which is scheduled for the 13th and 14th.

　On Saturday the 5th of October, the Higashi Matsushima Amazing Grace Relief Center will help by taking part in the “Yanagi Nishi Neighborhood Fall Festival.” This year too we are asking for your help with setting up the stage and sound system as well as helping to run various stalls.
