Dear The Westin Tokyo,
When massive earthquakes hit us, I was in a building in Ebisu, Tokyo. Since the building was closed, I went to JR Ebisu Station. However, the station was closed at 17:30 and we were told to go out.
I tried to get a taxi, but soon realized it would be impossible because it seemed people thought the same way.
I was bewildered, “How should I reach home in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture? Or how should I spend a night?” It seemed no trains would be available for a night.
Soon I remembered your hotel and walked there. I asked one of your staff at the entrance to call a taxi. He said, “Your turn is No. 78. But only one taxi comes here for about 50 minutes.” However, I told him that I would wait and he suggested I go into the building.
Step by step, the number of people in the lobby was increasing. Your staff kindly offered us free drinks such as hot coffee, tea and water. Even more, your hotel offered us something to warm us like blankets, cotton blankets and gowns.
I highly appreciate the hospitality you extended to us, who lost means of transportation to go home. I will never forget your kindness who allowed us to stay overnight at the lobby. Your staff members were kind, calm, gentle and polite.
I could have a breakfast at the restaurant on 1F the next morning and it was so wonderful.
A huge number of people are suffering in Tohoku Region and I suffer heartache.
Once again I would like to express my sincere thanks to you. I would like to stay at your hotel in the near future.
Sincerely yours,
Yumi Ryujin (Ulana)
