そのころから、釣りに関しては？！一切、場所にしろ仕掛けにしろ独自に考える基本的な癖が変わっていない。 しかし『今日は潮回りがいいのかえ？！』と背後からの声があったことをふっと想い出す。 それもいつしか言われなくなった。 麦藁帽子をしっかり被って、葦がそよぎ草が生い茂る、潮の匂いが”ギラ！、ギラ！”、”ネバ！、ネバ！”蒸せ返る草いきれの土手を目指して、毎日馳せ参じた。

Rudd（Tb）はブルース・ゴスペル風、渾身の放射は実に流麗であり、行間にしばしば覗かせる”美の木漏れ日”は類稀なもの。 R. Workman（B）とCharles Moffett（Ds）は軽快な何とも小気味良いドライブ感でグングン推進。 Mr. Syms（7:38）、4管のユニゾンでダイナミックなメロディーで颯爽と開始、4ビート、Alan Shorter（Flh）明快なソロにシェップが呼応・助奏を加える。 やがてシェップの淡々としたフリー・フォームソロ。 ブラスアンサンブルの美、シェップのスピリッツ溢れるブローイングは危うい危険性をはらみ、何とも味わい深い。 Cousin Mary（7:11）、シェップの疾走するフリースタイル・ブローイングがのびのびした、寛いだカタルシスを提出する。 Alan Shorter（Flh）天を突く明快なソロ、John Tchicai（As）が嘶き風のソロ、ブラスユニゾンで疾走。 Naima（7:06）、ゆっくりしたテンポ、シェップ（Ts）はベン・ウェブスター風のビブラートの幽玄を提出、R. Rudd（Tb）の助奏は実に聴き応えあり。 シェップは無伴奏ソロ、再びR. Rudd（Tb）の息をのむようなソロがありアンサンブルの幽玄、シェップの倍音のカデンツアで消え入り終わる。 Rufus（6:23）、R. Workman（B）推進する、シェップのオリジナル、ブルース。 シェップの並はずれたブローイング・テクスチャーの提出は実に鮮やかで瞠目する。 そしてテンポルバートが実に効果的であるようなのさ、なによりもこの必然をこそ認めるべきなんだろうな。 これはいっそうスリリングで、含蓄のあるものとしている、John Tchicai（As）のソロは圧巻。 A.
