白く波打つ稲穂を掠め、低空をとんでもない速さで滑空する。 昆虫は捕獲から逃げられない。 こんなワクワクする陽気の日は、竿を担いで出掛けなければならない。 汽水域の潮入河では意欲満々の底魚や表層魚が、わんさかのっこんで来るのだ。 ワンドのポイントで待ちかまえ、浮子を流さなければならない。 澄み切った甘い潮に満たされたワンドは、さざ波が走り、スラリと尖った芦の葉がそよぎ柔らかい擦れ音を囁く。 きれいな砂模様を背に描いた小さな目の底魚が、砂煙を巻き上げて真っ直ぐに沖に向かって、素早く遠ざかるのが見える。
♯♭♪ (*^.^*) ： Charlie Haden 1 2 3 4/ The Ballad Of The Fallen ♪ ♪ : Liberation Orchestra（アルバムのどこにもこの文字は無い）の第2作、管弦楽曲。 14年前の、アルバム”Liberation Music Orchestra”（Apr 27, 1969）、をいやが上にも想い出させる。 スペインで起きた弾圧への抵抗・挑戦を叙事詩風に甦えらせている、聞き憶えのある懐かしい独特の曲風・サウンドをも聴ける。 Ｃ・ブレイの編曲はしっかりした構成であり、のびのびした自発的美の表出が多く、Ｃ・ブレイの執拗感は少ない。 ジャケット裏の絵は、中米紛争の犠牲となり、ニカラグアの首都にある避難民収容所で暮らした少女が書いたもの。 Els Segadors（4:14）、スペイン、カタロニア地方の農民の反乱に関した曲、引き摺るような悲壮感がいっぱいの重苦しいサウンド、Ｃ・ブレイはグロッケンシュピールを演奏、Ｃ・ヘイデンのベースは項垂れ沈痛に沈む。 The Ballad of the Fallen（4:19）、エルサルバドルに関し、挽歌風の憂愁がたなびく明快なメロディーは、スパニッシュギターの情熱的な音色と共にとても心に響き、記憶に残る。 If You Want to Write Me (Si Me Quieres Escribir)（3:55）、スペイン市民戦争に由来する曲、Ｄ・チェリーの贅肉をそぎ落とした浸透力のある明快な、ポケットトランペットでメロディーが放射される。 Grandola Vila Morena（2:11）、1974年のポルトガルのファシスト政権の反乱に関する、マーチ風2本のフルートのソロでメロディーが提出され、トロンボーンのソロで厚みを増していく。 Introduction to People（3:55）、スペイン特有のハーモニーの舞曲、Ｃ・ブレイの曲、アルトサックスのソロでメロディーが歌われる。 The People United Will Never Be Defeated（1:40）、チリの抵抗運動歌、トロンボーンのユニゾンによる剥き出しの悲嘆は音楽美に満ちている。 Silence（5:49）、トランペットがシンプルなテーマを提出、繰り返す毎にアンサンブルは重厚になっていく、最後はピアノによる不穏な終止形。 Too Late（8:24）、Ｃ・ブレイの美しいピアノとＣ・ヘイデンのデュオで始まる沈痛な下降音階、Ｃ・ブレイは陰影のある優しいタッチで心情を溢れさせる。 アンサンブルで展開される、木管がとても美しい。 La Pasionaria 1（10:26）、スペイン市民戦争でリバイバルした、”パッショナリア”、ワルツ、アンサンブルで提出され、リードで情緒たっぷりに展開され、ベースソロでたっぷりに思い入れを込めて演奏される。 アンサンブルで繰り返され閉じる。 La Santa Espina（6:58）、カタロニア地方の古い歌、快活なメロディーを木管が踊るように演奏、そしてトランペットで悲嘆のメロディー。 アルトサックスの明快なソロのあと、引き摺るような悲嘆のメロディーのユニゾン。 Ｄ・チェリーの浸透力のあるソロと煮えたぎるアンサンブルは呼応しながらフェイドアウト。 C.
