嫌いな柄、大好きな柄がまったく勝手に整列している、ごく近所で買ったものや、北や南、東に出かけた折りに買ったものである。 ほとんど鉋掛けしてない日曜大工の定尺の材木をそのまま使い、高さ１．８ｍ、幅０．６ｍの文庫本とぴったりの奥行きの棚が１０段ある。 玄関の壁にぴったり沿って立っている。 下駄箱の上には、縦横０．９ｍのものがあり、同じく文庫専用のぴったりサイズの５段の棚は、とっくにビッシリ埋まっている、その上に３００冊近く平積みになっている。
