One of the youngest Wimbledon champions ever, 17-year-old Maria Sharapova is using her newfound success to help the younger generation, teaching kids from Harlem to play tennis.
Casually dressed in beige trousers and a red vest, the number eight ranked player in the world looked right at home helping youngsters from the Harlem Junior Tennis programme improve their swings. More than 350 children attended the free clinic held by the tennis star in New York City's Central Park.
The 6ft tall Russian, who just signed a lucrative global contract with Motorola, is giving back to local communities as she is quickly rising among the top earners in tennis. She's notched up more than $1.2 million in prize money this year, putting her ahead of fellow stars Jennifer Capriati, Amelie Mauresmo, Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams.
