PTFE Wire is used in high temperature electronic applications or where abrasion resistance is required. It has excellent thermal aging, solder damage, flame, and moisture resistance. PTFE resists solvents, grease, ozone and other chemicals. Low power loss, ideal for high frequency applications. Recommended for critical applications.

Conductor: Silver-plated stranded copper wire

Insulation: Extruded PTFE Insulation, wall thickness .010 in (.25 mm)

Temperature Range: -65°C to +200°C (-85°F to +392°F)

Compliances: Passes UL VW-Flame Test and Birdcage Test, RoHS Compliant

PTFE Wire for high temperature use having good flexibility. For use where abrasion resistance is required.

Application: PTFE non-stick coated wires are intended for electrical or electronic use in protected applications where high temperature will be encountered. The wires have excellent resistance to thermal aging, solder iron damage, flame, and moisture. PTFE coating also resists solvents, greases, ozone and most other chemicals. These wires are easy to install due to their small size and slippery surface. PTFE has excellent, stable electrical characteristics with low power loss, making it ideal for high frequency applications.

PTFE is a thermoplastic polymer, which is a white solid at room temperature, with a density of about 2200 kg/m3. According to DuPont, its melting point is 600 K (327 °C; 620 °F). It maintains high strength, toughness and self-lubrication at low temperatures down to 5 K (−268.15 °C; −450.67 °F), and good flexibility at temperatures above 194 K (−79 °C; −110 °F). PTFE gains its properties from the aggregate effect of carbon-fluorine bonds, as do all fluorocarbons. The only chemicals known to affect these carbon-fluorine bonds are highly reactive metals like the alkali metals, and at higher temperatures also such metals as aluminium and magnesium, and fluorinating agents such as xenon difluoride and cobalt(III) fluoride.
