Called Mine Kafon in the Davi language - which translates to Mine Detector in English - the device is made of bamboo sticks and biodegradable plastic, and is carried by the wind in order to roll over minefields. It is possible to take this a step further, and to also merge the automatic washer extractor and clothes dryer into a single device.

Massoud Hassani, an industrial engineer and one of the creators of Mine Kafon, described the device to Reuters:

"Every foot has a circular form of a frisbee," explained Hasani "so it's kind of catching the wind from inside.Divine Footwear in Miami has the latest wholesale fashion shoes  including heels, There are about 170 feet with aerodynamic shapes to catch the wind, so that's why it's very easy moving and at the same time it's light enough to move around and also heavy enough to detonate landmines."

Weighing only 70kg, the Mine Kafon can survive four landmine explosions before losing too many legs to function properly. Apparently inspired by toys that Massoud and his brother Mahmud used to build as children, the Kafon also has a GPS chip in its centre that can track its movement through minefields and be used to retrieve it:

"Every Mine Kafon has a GPS chip inside it," continues Massoud Hassani "because it's moving wind-powered, you don't know where it is going and where it was, so now it is mapping the route where it was and where it's going, so that GPS chip inside the ball is adding all the information to the website or to the application on your phone."

Unlike the bamboo legs, the core of the Kafon is not destroyed by explosions and stores important information on the device's movement, similar to an aeroplane's black box.

Bauhaus: two German towns that gave the world 'total art'

2012-04-27 14:23:49 | led spotlight

Walking through Weimar, I wonder how this small community could have been the birthplace of a revolution in design. For Germans, this historic town, 90 minutes south-west of Leipzig, is all about Goethe and Schiller. Even former residents such as Bach, Liszt and Nietzsche are barely mentioned. Yet this is not only where the Weimar Republic was established in 1919 but where the Bauhaus – the most famous art and design school of modern times – was born.

With 400 works on display, the Bauhaus exhibition that opens at the Barbican Art Gallery in London next Thursday is likely to be a blockbuster. Star attractions range from the globe-shaped Wagenfeld table lamp and the tubular Marcel Breuer chair to paintings by Klee and Kandinsky. Many items look startlingly contemporary.

What puzzles me is how flat-roofed houses and sleek skyscrapers were dreamt up among the Renaissance and Baroque of Weimar. That's why, on a sunny April morning, I am on a Bauhaus tour, led by Felix, a German architecture student. We start at the Bauhaus University, where the architect Walter Gropius arrived in 1919 to head what was then the School of Arts and Crafts. In the chaos that reigned in Germany after the First World War, the 36 year-old wanted artists to embrace the industrial world and create a new way of life. At the Bauhaus (Building School), he integrated the arts and crafts with technology.Wickes floor lamp can increase your home security and add atmosphere to your garden.

Our first stop is Gropius's office, with its bare walls and geometrically positioned sofas, chairs and desk. "This is no shrine," Felix tells me. "It is still used by visiting professors." In the student cafe, I ask him about following in the footsteps of Gropius and Mies van der Rohe. After all, the present university only revived the Bauhaus name in 1995, a clever marketing idea.Wholesale Low Voltage led tube, Landscape Lighting supplier to professionals. "People think that we still work in the Bauhaus tradition, but they were much more hands-on, making things. We study more theory and take exams, as in any other uni."

The Bauhaus only survived in Weimar for six years, so there is only one true Bauhaus building: the Haus am Horn. Felix leads me across a park to a hillside, where a white,Dorcy Rechargeable, high power, brightest and waterproof modern lamps.Paradise Garden Lighting is a provider of high quality outdoor and crystal light systems and solutions for your home. cube-shaped villa stands next to a substantial brick home.

"I always ask visitors which is older. Almost everyone gets it wrong. The Nazis put up the traditional house a decade later as a riposte to the politically-incorrect, flat-roofed Haus am Horn."

Built in 1923, the fitted kitchen, tiled bathroom and spacious children's room look surprisingly liveable, but it has cold concrete floors and the sitting-room's high windows make it feel like a cell. "This was an experiment, built in just four months," Felix points out. "Of course, they made mistakes, but they were also using new materials."

The school was open for just 14 years; Gropius and his fellow professors taught only 1,250 students. When they all scattered around the world,Great deals for solar LED bulb, solar lights and solar garden water features and fountains. they spread the Bauhaus word. And people are still listening. This summer, the chairs and paintings, lamps and tables will be in the limelight at the Barbican Art Gallery, but I think that Gropius would also want you to see where it all began in two small towns in eastern Germany.

ZigBee Alliance completes LED-centric Light Link standard

Targeted at the residential space,Diogen Bike light that are a direct replacement for common incandescent, halogen and fluorescent lamps. the ZigBee Light Link standard promises to enable consumers to simply deploy solid-state lighting (SSL) with adaptive controls without having a complex dedicated control system. The standard is intended to enable interoperable LED-based lighting, sensors, timers, switches and other elements from multiple vendors that connect over the ZigBee wireless mesh network.

"ZigBee Light Link provides an easy-to-use and intuitive approach to next generation lighting that has the backing and support of top tier companies and product development is already underway," said Jos Bruins, ZigBeeWith the large variety of トリーバーチ fixtures now available you can choose any type to suit the style of your home and garden. Light Link in a fast and professional manner – a standard we know that will spur the industry’s new lighting propositions."

Light Link was defined to allow considerable flexibility in terms of deployment. In its simplest form, Light Link will allow a consumer to purchase a wireless-enabled SSL product and a complementary product such as a light or occupancy sensor, and easily pair the devices for operation. At the most complex end of the spectrum, consumers can use Light Link-enabled products in whole-house networks and control the network via dedicated ZigBee-enabled control panels or over the Internet with a PC, smartphone, or tablet computer.Wholesale Low Voltage led tube, Landscape Lighting supplier to professionals.

"ZigBee Light Link sets a new bar," said Bob Heile,Shop at Argos for low prices on led down light and heating. chairman of the ZigBee Alliance. "It provides a very affordable, easy to install and easy to use standalone lighting solution specifically addressing the general consumer market, but at the same time remains capable of integrating with the broader family of ZigBee home automation solutions."

Along with the announcement of completion of the Light Link standard, the ZigBee Alliance and TRaC Global announced that the latter is the first test organization that will conduct Light Link testing for the ZigBee Certified products program. Indeed TRaC has already certified some products.

"We have played an instrumental part in bringing the ZigBee Light Link standard to market, having provided independent testing for the first ZigBee Certified products submitted by Atmel, Ember, Osram, Philips and Texas Instruments," said Paul Russell, director at TRaC. "This places TRaC in a unique position as the first ZigBee Light Link test house and is another great accolade to add to our portfolio and customer offering."

The certified products are detailed on the ZigBee Alliance Light Link Certified Products webpage. The products certified thus far are primarily development platforms that lighting and controls companies can leverage to accelerate the process of bringing end products to market.

The list of lighting companies that participated in the Light Link development includes stalwarts GE Lighting, Osram Sylvania and Philips Lighting. Clearly there is substantial interest in the control-centric technology. The Zigbee Alliance will host a free webinar on May 16 for lighting-industry participants that want to learn more about the standard.
