Compact lead vest for electromagnetic radiation protection

Aluminum is effective, but electromagnetic waves still pass through it. A friend of mine said that heavy metals might be better. Lead is a heavy metal. (Others include gold and silver.)

Lead is also used in the medical field. When using X-rays for examinations, people wear protective lead clothing that is 0.3 mm thick. However, when it comes to medical treatment, I heard 0.3 mm is not effective.

Since lead is used in the medical and industrial fields to protect against electromagnetic waves, its effectiveness has been proven. Lead is considered to be an effective, familiar, and available material for protecting against electromagnetic waves.

I bought a lead sheet online and made a body cover with it. If I'm inside, I can wear something like thick armor, but that's not the case when I go out or work. A 0.3 mm thick lead sheet takes up very little space. It becomes brittle with use, so I reinforced it by covering both sides with duct tape, but it's still thin.

I was surprised that lead is heavy but soft, so if it's 0.3 mm thick, you can make it with regular scissors.

I made two vests by separating the stomach and chest parts, and it turned out pretty well. I attached shoulder straps to each part with duct tape. It's easier to move around when it's separated into two parts than when it's connected. (I also made another one for the neck, so in my case it's actually three parts, but I'm not recommending three parts to others. In my case, I needed )

I call it a "lead vest." If you wear a sweater over it, even if it's sleeveless, or if you wear a thin vest over it, the lead vest will not be visible and will not be noticed. It's soft, so it doesn't bulge, fits the body well, and is not noticeable.

If it is not effective with 0.3 mm, you can make it 0.6 mm by stacking two pieces. It's still not noticeable. However, it will be heavy.

Also, it may be uncomfortable for people who sweat a lot.

The atomic weights and specific gravity of aluminum, iron, and lead are as follows.
Aluminum: atomic weight 26, specific gravity 2.7 Iron: atomic weight 55, specific gravity 7.86 Lead: atomic weight 207, specific gravity 11.35

The atomic weight numbers may be related to the effectiveness of electromagnetic shielding. Although it may not be possible to make a simple comparison, lead may be several times more effective than aluminum. Looking at the atomic weight, there is an eight-fold difference. I don't really know about science, but if you make a simple comparison, lead that is several times thinner than aluminum may have the same defensive power. I think a thin lead vest would be good for going out and carrying around.

I really like this, and I wear it all the time, even when I sleep.

I used to make belly warmers out of aluminum. It was fairly effective, but it was a bit bulky.

My main method of electromagnetic wave protection is now lead. However, it costs a bit of money. A 0.3mm thick, 46cm wide, 10m long one costs 20,000-30,000 yen.(now it's more expensive.) When I used aluminum, I used aluminum foil from candy bags, coffee, and tea bags, and cut aluminum cans with metal cutters to make sheets, so it cost almost no money and only took time.

Just to be safe, lead is poisonous, you should be careful not to inhale it in any way. Also, as you can see from the fact that it is used in pencil leads, it will color if you apply strong pressure, so you should be careful.

However, it doesn't provide complete shielding, so I try and make various things and use them in combination.

(Now that I'm translating this into English (2025), lead is not used much anymore. Other materials are used. Lead is used when electromagnetic waves are strong. I will introduce the things I'm currently using little by little in English translations.)

Unexpected electromagnetic wave countermeasures

I haven't written much about electromagnetic waves in this blog.
But gradually, the electromagnetic waves got worse, and I couldn't sleep without medicine. I started having diarrhea every day, so I had to think of ways to deal with it.
Just then, I met a fellow targeted inividual of electromagnetic waves, and he gave me some advice.

I made a thick armor out of some readily available aluminum, and my diarrhea stopped. Since then, I've been making anti-electromagnetic wave goods little by little.

Now, one of the surprising electromagnetic wave goods he recommended that you can buy cheaply and easily is "paint."

Paint pigments are made from minerals. White pigment is zinc oxide, yellow is cadmium, and blue is cobalt. It is possible that they block in some way electromagnetic waves.

I bought some paint and tried coloring it on A4 paper and newspaper, and it was effective. He said that white and yellow were more effective, but I don't have a measuring device so I'm not sure, but it seemed to me that all colors (white, black, blue, red, yellow, green, ochre, indigo, etc.) were equally effective. I layer paper and use it in combination with other aluminum and lead products.

If you want something cheap, you can buy it at a 100 yen shop (very pupular cheap shop in japan where we can buy many sort of goods only for 100 yen) or in bulk at an art supply store.

It also seems that T-shirts with lots of prints also block X-rays. The pigments in the prints seems to block X-rays.
