Big Four firm PwC has posted record revenues of $41.3bn (£31.8bn) globally, led by strong growth in the US and Western Europe
The 7% increase in turnover for the year ended 30 June helped PwC surpass the $40bn mark for the first time. However, Big Four rival Deloitte has extended its lead as largest firm with global revenues of $43.2bn.
The gap between the two firms has been increasing over the past few years, at $900m in 2016, $1.1bn in 2017 and $1.9bn this year.
地域別には、米国が4％増の175億ドル、西欧が6％増の139億ドル、アジアが15.1％増の57億ドルとなっています。
Revenues at PwC’s US business rose 4% to $17.5bn, while its Western European grew 6% to $13.9bn.
However the biggest increase was in Asia, where revenues grew 15.1% to $5.7bn.
サービスライン別では、まず、保証業務が4.4％増の170億ドルです。PwCの監査サービスは世界最大であり、107,000人もの人員を擁していますが、強制的監査事務所ローテーション制度の影響を受けた市場も含めて、主要市場で成長しています。
The firm’s biggest service line, assurance, saw fee income rise 4.4% to $17bn which was “very impressive given the intensely competitive nature of the assurance market,” according to the firm.
It added that its audit business, which is the largest in the world with 107,000 people in the practice, grew across its key markets including those impacted by mandatory audit firm rotation.
アドバイザリー部門は10％増の138億ドル。金融サービス、消費者向け市場、プライベート・エクイティ、テクノロジー、メディア、通信といった業種向けのサービスへの重要が強いとのことです。
Meanwhile, its advisory arm grew 10% to $13.8bn, thanks to strong demand for these services in financial services, consumer markets, private equity, technology, media and telecoms.
税務は８％増の104億ドル。
Changes in domestic and international tax systems, such as the US tax reform, drove the firm’s tax and legal revenues up 8% to $10.4bn.
PwC全体の人員は250,000人で、年間の採用数は 64,776人、そのうち新卒者は27,016人でした。（約4年で人が入れ替わる計算になります。）
PwC said its headcount grew 6% to 250,000 people globally. In the past year, 64,776 people joined the firm, with 27,016 graduates.
新しいパートナーは739人で、そのうち３０％が女性でした。
Of the 739 new partners admitted this year, 30% were female.
