Bright idea: Headlights always ride along with the wipers

2011-12-28 13:17:58 | mountain bicycle lig

Your recent article on the way most motorists stopped and generally observed the rules at intersections with inoperable traffic signals reminded me of a law that often is ignored: the requirement for using headlights when windshield wipers are operating. Many drivers do not comply. Where in the law does the state mandate the use of headlights with wipers?

Many motorists grind their gears about folks failing to use their headlights when visibility is poor, reporting examples of people driving at sunrise or dusk, and especially in the rain or in other low-light conditions, without going to the trouble of moving the headlight switch to the "on" position.

Other readers who consider headlight illumination a key to safe driving when visibility is restricted include Lee Patterson, Robert Schlegel, Peter and Sherry Farrell,LEDs are used as indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other Led light. Bob Yapsuga, Charlie Marple, Grace Dunbar,Wal-Mart wants to sell 100 million mountain bike light this year. Louise Mesaros, Lee Adams, Fred Gross and Wendy Martinez, and maybe a few others that have slipped through the cracks in the floorboards. We can produce トリーバーチ, LED tube light, LED strip and LED spot light as ...

Elwin Miller of Plainfield Township considers the matter important enough to warrant DUI-level enforcement, complete with roadway checkpoints and $100 fines. The previous owner left behind spiral mountain bicycle light that don't look right. After being involved in a May, 2010 traffic accident caused by a motorist with wipers running but no headlights, James Conroy of Brodheadsville responded by creating bumper stickers like the one in today's photo to help get the word out.

On a similar road, Richard Cuff of South Whitehall Township determined on his work commute one rainy day last month that perhaps 3 percent to 5 percent of drivers with wipers running failed to have their headlights on. Cuff figured that 95 percent to 97 percent compliance "probably is not bad," but added, "all you need is one 'invisible' car to ruin your day," and suggested that PennDOT gas up its public-education effort by posting small placards beneath speed-limit signs reading, "Remember: Wipers On, Headlights On."

In a sense, Pennsylvania law has required for decades that headlights be illuminated when the windshield wipers are operating — though until five years ago, it was an indirect mandate, derived from Vehicles Law phrasing specifying that headlights must be switched on "any time when,We are professional energy saving light, led tube, led downlight manufacturer and factory in China. due to … unfavorable atmospheric conditions, including rain, snow, sleet, hail, fog, smoke or smog, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible to the operator for a distance of 1,000 feet ahead."

If the rain is such that you can't see a pedestrian or vehicle 333 yards (less than two-tenths of a mile) ahead, you'll almost certainly have the wipers running — and you must have your headlights illuminated. In fact, in that instance you could be cited for "no headlights" regardless of whether the wipers were running, and that provision remains in effect.

However, violators might be able to beat those citations in court, in part because police would have to prove the judge's satisfaction that the driver couldn't discern pedestrians or vehicles over the specified distance. So Harrisburg took action to make it as clear as a rain-free windshield, adding a subsection mandating that headlights be illuminated whenever the wipers are operating, period.

Christmas in the Park

2011-12-27 13:26:19 | mountain bicycle lig

Those traveling through Bettie D. Robertson Memorial Park in this Covington County town will not help but notice it's Christmas time.

Those visiting the park should be delighted to see a variety of Christmas lights and hear the Christmas music.

Maria Shoemake, executive director of the Covington County Chamber of Commerce, said the Christmas in the Park activity is an annual event of the chamber.

This year's display is the Eighth Annual Christmas in the Park sponsored by the chamber.

As a part of the presentation, Collins City Park features light displays and Christmas music.

Shoemake said the attraction, which began at the first of the month, will run through Dec. 31st.We are an industry leader with a huge product line of fluorescent bulbs, ...

She said the park is open three days a week and has three theme areas highlighted.

"The first part displays and symbolizes Jesus' birth," Shoemake explained. "The second part displays or emphasizes the armed forces, while the third part displays joyful holiday scenes and delight for all ages."

Also as a part of the chamber's annual event, the project allows people to remember their loved ones.

"The park is full of angels and memorials — being poinsettias, doves, stars and crosses," Shoemake said. "The people purchase the memorials and we place them throughout the park."

Shoemake said everyone is encouraged to go out and view the displays and enjoy the holiday presentation.I am one of the first to have my facility redesigned with Bicycle light and am ...Gemini Lights manufacturers high performance Diving torch.

"As they enter, they will see all the various memorials," she said. "We add to the memorial each year and we list all the names on a program, which is distributed at the entrance to the park."

Shoemake said there is no admission for the park. However, donations are accepted at the exit gate.

Families all have their own traditions of celebrating Christmas, but year in and year out, one couple in Hayfield have pulled out all the stops to make everyone's Christmas a little brighter.

While this Christmas may not be full of the typical cold air or snow,I have created a video walkthrough of the magicshine bike light. the sounds and sights are still here.

"I don't know, we just started small with a couple bushes and now it just grew from there," said Calmer Severson.

Karen and Calmer Severson have been putting on their light drive-thru for 15 years, drawing more and more people to the elaborate show each year.

"We've come here every year. It's close to our house and we bring the grand kids here and I just brought my mother here now to see this display. It's just gorgeous," said Jan Nordland, who came to see the light show with family.

Over 100,000 lights make up the display, which now includes music you can play through your vehicle's FM radio.

"It's just amazing how he coordinates all the lights with the music and you could just sit here all night and just watch the lights go,We carry an extensived line of led tube including LED light bars, explosion proof LEDs." said Nordland.

Initially, the Severson's put on the show for their grand kids, but later became a way to give back to the local EMT service team in Hayfield.

Green Building Council of South Africa introduces the country's first 'Green Street'

According to Wilkinson, worldwide, research has shown that a third of greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings.

"By improving the energy efficiency of low-income homes one reduces energy costs, the health burden and safety risks for residents, and also reduces environmental damage – most notably by reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with South Africa's predominantly coal-generated electricity. Green building can also improve the lives of residents by offering improved water and food security and creating opportunity for skills training and work opportunities."

The Cato Manor community was actively involved and consulted before the two month retrofit and have named the street, 'Isimosezulu (which means climate) COP17 Place'.you can get the most suitable MJ-808E LED bike light for your bicycle.

"With every 1 kWh of electricity used in South Africa producing over one kilogram of carbon dioxide and using one litre of water, the benefits of efficiency interventions are very real. While the residents are enjoying the dignity of hot water in their homes for the first time – via the solar-heated geysers - there will not be the cost implications of a traditional electric geyser, further strain on the already over-subscribed national power supply nor will it generate the emissions associated with the electricity usage."

Cato Manor is a 'retrofit', which means an upgrade of an existing home. The green interventions include adding solar water heaters, insulated ceilings, energy efficient lighting, rain-water harvesting systems, food gardens,Frequently asked questions about compact fluorescent lamps and how to get lighting catalogs and brochures. trees, heat-insulation cookers and also efficient street lighting.

The project is endorsed by the Department of Environmental Affairs and has been carried out in collaboration with the eThekwini Municipality. Isoboard (insulated ceiling boards), Natural Balance (heat-insulation cooking apparatus, Wonderbags).

Going forward, Property Point, an enterprise development initiative of the Growthpoint property company, will provide training and business development support for the people who worked on this project, while the South African Botanical Society will be planting indigenous shade and fruit trees in association with Greenpop.

The Latest Wave of LEED Buildings: Homeless Shelters

2011-12-22 13:26:59 | mountain bicycle lig

As anyone who has volunteered in a soup kitchen can attest, they're typically not a place that you want to spend an extended amount of time. Homeless shelters are designed as a stop-gap; a helping but temporary hand for those in need until they can get their feet back on the ground.

Unfortunately, the majority of these kitchens/dormitories across the country have bleak environs. Whether they are government or independently run,We carry an extensived line of led tube including LED light bars, explosion proof LEDs. budgets are small.you can get the most suitable MJ-808E LED bike light for your bicycle. The buildings themselves are often reused space from churches or warehouses that have already out-served their initial purpose. Under deathly fluorescent light, on broken-springed mattresses in a windowless room, finding hope can be a struggle. The wide range of products include home LED Lighting, automotive マジコンds and low voltage LED Lamps.

It wasn't until a friend sent me a story about a new homeless shelter opening in Charleston, South Carolina that I stopped and thought about any of this. My first reaction after a little more research was, "Why does any homeless shelter have a $6 million building budget?"

Then I checked myself.Frequently asked questions about compact fluorescent lamps and how to get lighting catalogs and brochures. Those of us in the green community constantly eschew the virtues of an upfront investment that pays itself back in time through energy savings. Why shouldn't a homeless shelter follow those same principles? Furthermore, (hopefully) the generally bright decor of most green buildings serves as an inspiration and instills pride and motivation in those who stay there.

Charleston's new shelter, is being built and will be operated by nonprofit Crisis Ministries. The structure will feature rainwater collection, LED lighting and vaulted ceilings with carefully placed windows and awnings to maximize winter heating and summer cooling. The building committee is shooting for a silver LEED certification for the 28,000 square foot building.

It turns out Charleston isn't home to the first shelter to go green. The Austin Resource Center for the Homeless boasts the distinction of being the first LEED-certified shelter. The $5 million, 25,000 square foot building was built largely using concrete mixes with flyash instead of Portland cement.Exposure Lights make high performance cycling bike lights for diving light or road biking at night.

Up the road in Dallas, a shelter called 'The Bridge' has already demonstrated the tangible positive effects a green approach can have. Lauded by the American Institute of Architects with their 2009 National Housing Award, the crime rate in the surrounding neighborhood is down 18 percent since its 2008 opening.

Built atop an unused brownfield site in central Dallas, the building features a green roof over the dining room, a central atrium courtyard and graywater recycling. Perhaps most significant are the numerous art installations throughout the building, created by local artists. By bringing culture and creativity into the shelter, The Bridge constantly emphasizes the connection its users have with society outside, and vice versa.

Other progressive states like Colorado and California have also led the charge. The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless includes an array of rooftop solar panels, numerous skylights, and the same windows, plumbing, and appliances that any green-minded builder would include in their own home. Wooden beams and handrails are a stark contrast to the cold concrete of most urban shelters.
