90% of Japanese Save Electricity This Summer

According to the internet questionnaire conducted by Mainichi News with the support of NTT resonant, 50% of Japanese have been saving electricity because of the power shortage this year. 38% of those have always been saving electricity. In total, approx. 90% of Japanese people are trying to save power.

For example, 'turning switches off more often (80%),' and 'unplugging unused electric tools (59%)' are the most common ways of saving electricity. Some other ways are as follows:
-setting the air conditioner at 28C (49%)
-not using the 'keep warm' function (48%)
-lowering the brightness of room lights/using less room lights (46%)
-washing all clothes at once (ie. not separating them) (45%)
-not using the electric heating system for toilets (35%)
-purchasing eco- friendly products (21%)
-waking up early and going t
o bed early (16%)
-Other (5%)
