Noguchi's Bird Watching Diary

I will record what I feel through my bird watching.

Great Egret's display is beautiful, cool and Kawaii

Great Egret's display in the middle of breeding season!

Its movement was beautiful and cool.

As I mentioned last time, there is a heron colony in the park near my house.

Grey Herons, Little Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, Great Egrets, and Great Cormorants nest in groups.

Great Egrets are a minority among them, but they are large and stand out with their beautiful ornamental feathers.

And their display made them even more conspicuous!

This was the first time I've seen a Great Egret display!!

*Display: An act of showing off with sounds and movements when courting or intimidating.

I was happy to see its Kawaii behavior.

I was surprised by the Kawaii architect's work!

There is a colony of herons in a nearby park.

Last year, the area was heavily thinned, and nesting sites were greatly reduced.

This year, the herons have gathered again, but they are crowded together and it is tough to find a spot.

Very crowded!

Oh? That Little Egret's nest...

In such an unstable-looking place!?

Frame 4

I wondered how they made it.

The wild architect was amazing!

The nest didn't seem to be stable and was wobbly.

There is a colony of herons in the park near my house.

Every year at this time, Grey Herons, Little Egrets, Black-crowned Night Herons, Great Egrets, and Great Cormorants nest in groups.

Last year, the trees in this colony were thinned out.

I thought it was part of the park management, but the trees had become very sparse.

However, the herons were gathering again this year regardless!

With the number of places to build nests drastically decreasing, it seemed that there were more fights and more commotion...

And the colony was expanding to the surrounding park paths, and I was worried about the droppings.

In the midst of all this, a nest like the one in the comics had been formed, and I thought the power of the wild is amazing.

It's Kawaii to see Grey Heron chicks struggling to swallow a big fish

Every year, I can observe herons nesting in the park near my house.

The day before yesterday, 3/28, I found my first Grey Heron chick this year!

In the rain, I found fluff under the parent bird.

Then today, I thought the parent bird was bending over the chick.

A fish came out to feed on it!!

One of the chicks was trying to eat a very large fish and couldn't swallow it.

In the end, it managed to swallow it!

I was able to confirm three chicks. I hope they grow up healthy.

This year, the trees that were the heron colony were cut down to a large extent and the area became sparse.

However, just like last year, Little Egrets and Black-crowned Night Herons have also come, and it's very crowded.

I'm a little worried, but I'm looking forward to observing their cute appearance again this year.
