Windows Repair Virus Infected My Computer - How I Deleted It.

I was working online today and very suddenly my firewall said some an unknown .exe program was trying to access the internet, which I denied. I later found another random number with a .exe doing the same thing which I again denied.

Rogue software emerged called "Windows Repair" as the culprit and had bypassed through good antivirus software installed on my computer, with the screen stating that my computer has been infected, and in fact it was! I could still use the internet, but I couldn't close this damn Trojan horse software "Repair Windows" which had also blocked the windows Task Manager to stop a forced close down. All gave me was the option to purchase the windows repair software to unravel the issue. To my horror my screen went black and all of my photos, documents and program files as did the icons. It is probably the worst virus that I never had to deal with on my computer.

I tried a system restore but it would not let me do that, I tried chkdsk /r in dos and again the virus made the computer tell me it was clean. It was not. I decided to use the internet to find out what it was and nothing was showing up with the files I was Googling, so I can only assume that this virus (and it's a nasty one by the way) is quite new. Anyway one of the only programs that I was able to run was a free version of Prevx (this saved my computer) which is an anti-malware software that I had on computer which is unregistered but at least it told me what the problem was. If someone is searching for a random.exe files, who can tell which ones they might be? Thankfully I was able to remove the files successfully only in safe mode though again it disabled this through the normal route but was able to type it in via start run and msconfig,, boot .ini tab and select "safeboot" and "minimal" as the virus makes your computer think it has hardware problems and cannot read the documents or programs or wont let you run things either. It is a very clever virus. After removal of the infected files in safe mode, I then did a system restore to an earlier time, just to be sure it restored back to the earlier registry settings.

The other problem is that the two .exe files that appear to be causing the mayhem are random numbers when you Google, then it's a pain that nothing comes up. The virus also made all my favorites from internet explorer and music, photo and document files disappear even if with system restore. If it affect you in the same way, it's necessary to click with the right button of the affected folder and select the properties option and then un-check the box hidden to display normal dark color and for your icons, pictures documents and favorite icons to show backup as normal. Anyhow, these are the files I've found that need to be deleted. Hope this helps you all.

With the system restore it corrected all the HKEY current user keys in the registry from what I can see as all the anti malware programs can't find it. Phew three hours later and I am back to normal except my registry folders which are appearing all darkened mottled! That can wait for a another day. Hope you don't catch the Windows Repair Virus like I did, but I seemed to have got rid of it!
