Mkhitaryan display leaves fans purring

Manchester United midfield maestro Henrikh Mkhitaryan picked up yet another Man-of-the-Match award following a fine individual performance in the 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

The Armenian, who netted the only goal of the game just before the half-hour mark, beat off competition from Paul Pogba and Phil Jones to win his fourth star man accolade via our Twitter vote in his last five games.

Mkhitaryan’s goal was his first in the Premier League for United, making him the first Armenian player to score in England’s top flight.

In his last four fixtures, Mkhitaryan has now been involved in two goals and two assists and his performances have excited the supporters.

Picking up an outstanding 87 per cent of the vote from the Reds' faithful, Mkhitaryan is starting to show some of the potential which saw United bring him over last summer from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the game did finish on a sour note, with the midfielder being carried off on a stretcher after being fouled by Spurs left-back Danny Rose.

Manager Jose Mourinho was quick in reassuring fans that the injury was not too serious and the midfielder should be back in time to feature on Boxing Day in the game against David Moyes's Sunderland.

United fans will certainly be hoping that their new talisman can continue his current purple patch over the festive period upon his return.
