How long do you think you will need to adapt to a new environment when you first study abroad?

I think one month is enough if you live in a dormitory.
In fact, I studied English in Los Angeles for one year about 30 years ago.
If I remember right, it didn't take a long time to get used to the new life there
because I had some supportive roommates in the student dormitory.
They helped me open my bank account and took me shopping by car
for initial necessities including blankets, clothing, some food and so on.

When I was eighteen years old, I left my home town and entered college in Tokyo.
Since then, I had lived alone for about 24 years including one year of study abroad in Los Angeles.
Looking back on those days, I think the experience of living alone helped me
increase a sense of independence, because I couldn't put the blame on anyone even when I overslept.
