琉球新報新聞博物館 RYUKYU SHIMPO NEWSPAPER MUSEUM

 

Today we went to a place that I asked Master to bring me. Yesterday I went to Kokusai St. by myself, on the way back to Tatsuya, I passed Ryukyu Shimpo Izumizaki Buliding and saw many students went out with a tourist guide. So I got home and asked Master if that is possible for me to visit the place. Master told me they do have a museum, and we could go by tomorrow.

今日は前から行きたかったところにマスターに連れて行ってもらいました。昨日、一人で国際通りに行った帰り道、琉球新報泉崎ビルの中に学際さんたちがガイドの先導で入っていくのを見ました。帰ってからマスターに私も新聞社の仲に入れるのかと聞いたら、あそこには博物館もあるから明日連れて行ってあげようといわれたのです。

So, I visited Ryukyu Shimpo Newspaper Museum today! You may wonder why I want to visit this place, because my major in university is Journalism, and I learned that Japanese are the people who read the most newspaper in the world of this generation that people are prefer TV to get news.

今日、それで私は琉球新報新聞博物館に来ているのです！どうしてそんなところに行きたがるのか不思議に思う方もいるでしょうね。実は私の専攻はジャーナリズムなのです。しかも今通っている大学で、今の世代の人たちはテレビでニュース情報を得ているにもかかわらず、日本人は世界でもっとも新聞を読む国民だと習ったからです。

After we cleaned bedrooms, we first went to the restaurant in the museum. The restaurant is quite cheap, and you served yourself except the main meal, so you may take as much as you can eat. They also got about 10 kinds of drinks including water for you to choose. And surprise, they have free Wifi.

お部屋の掃除が終わった後、琉球新報の社内食堂でランチをとりました。値段もとても安く、メイン以外はセルフなので、ご飯やスープも好きなだけ食べられます。１０種類のドリンクの飲み放題もついていて、しかも驚いたことにフリーワイファイまでありました。

After lunch, I went in to the museum. First they introduce the history of Ryukyu Shimpo, sadly they don't have English or Chinese introduction, so I can only read some Chinese characters and pictures. In this section, they not only showing the history, also shows a day of jounalist, and how they work.

ランチの後、私は新聞博物館を見学しました。最初琉球新報の歴史が紹介されていましたが、悲しいかな英語版と中国版がありませんでしたので漢字と写真だけでなんとか内容をくみ取りました。このセクションでは歴史だけでなく、新聞記者の一日や仕事の内容についても展示されていました。

Second section they show the time of WWII in Okinawa. They display how jounalist did at that time to get news, I like this section which is very cool! Some of my classmates in Taiwan want to be war correspondent in the future, we all know that isn't a easy job, after saw what they showed in museum, I can't accept more for this idea.

次のセクションでは沖縄戦がテーマでした。当時ジャーナリストがどうやってニュースを得ていたかが展示されていました。私はこのセクションが好きです。とてもクールです。台湾の大学の私のクラスメイトのうち数人は将来日本の特派員になりたいと思っていますが、この博物館での展示内容をみたらそれは簡単な仕事ではないことをきっと思い知るだろうなと思いました。

The third section, I think is the most interesting part of the museum. They display the printing skill from pass to nowadays. You can seldom see these tool like typesettings. They make the paper by themselves and even cut the paper by hand, fabulous!

三番目のセクション。ここが博物館の中で一番面白いところでした。過去から現在に至る印刷技術が展示されていました。今ではほとんど見ることのできない活版印刷。彼らは紙面を自分たちで作り、裁断までも手作業でやっていました。何という！

The last part of museum is the historical newspaper at the time of WWII in Okinawa. Newspaper really took a important place in recording the history, the jounalist wrote history to tell people what happened and took pictures to proof their words! I really like this place, we do not have this kind of place in Taiwan. This really educated people a lot.

最後のパートは沖縄戦当時の歴史的新聞です。新聞は歴史を記録するのに重要な役割を担っています。ジャーナリストは人々に何があったかを伝えるために歴史を印し、それを証明するために写真を撮ります。私はこの場所が本当に好きでした。台湾にこんな場所はありません。ここは本当に人を強く感化します。
