マレイシア/タイ：米国上院の報告がビルマからの移民の人身売買を暴露
(New York, April 23, 2009) – The United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations today publicly released a report, “Trafficking and Extortion of Burmese Migrants in Malaysia and Southern Thailand,” which exposes the mistreatment of Burmese migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Malaysia.
(ニューヨーク、2009年4月23日)－米国上院外交委員会は「マレイシア及びタイ南部におけるビルマ人移民に対する人身売買と恐喝」という報告書を、本日正式に公表した。同報告書は、マレイシアにおけるビルマ人移民、亡命希望者、難民に対する虐待を暴露している。
“People seeking refuge from oppression in Burma are being abused by Malaysian government officials and human traffickers,” said Elaine Pearson, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak should act on this US Senate report to protect the rights of refugees and victims of human trafficking.”
