Heavy rains lash west; two reported missing


YAMAGUCHI – Parts of western Japan were deluged by rain starting in the predawn hours of Sunday, triggering mudslides and floods. At least two people were reported missing in Shimane and Yamaguchi prefectures.

The heavy rain prompted the weather agency to warn that “some areas are seeing unprecedentedly heavy rains”
and called for extreme caution against floods and mudslides.
